Post Two Of Hearts

anyone think that was one of the funniest guest appearences? And wasn't that episode filmed when TWO OF HEARTS was a huge hit (it cracked the top 10 singles chart back in 86 or 87 for Stacey "Cinnamon" Q)

I was in the audience at the taping at that particular episode in January of '87. By that time I didn't think the show was all that great anymore but it was still interesting to see it live. BTW Stacey Q's band SSQ was soooo much better than her solo stuff.

Question

Wasn't Off-Broadway Baby the episode where she sang Two of Hearts? That one aired 11/1/86. The other episode (A Star Is Torn) aired 1/31/87 - if they taped it in January that's a very quick turnaround.. I thought there were several months before when they taped an episode and it was actually aired.

Hmmmm....I'm 99.9% sure it was 1/87 that I saw the taping...I could have sworn it was after New Year's. Now I have to go in my scrapbooks and find out for sure because it will bug me.

Well I guess that was the look back in mid 80's. Because she was a hit back then. Although it was for only a while. The last I saw of Stacy Q was in a 1989 episode of Mama's Family. On VH1's "Where are they now"
they said that Stacey was practicing Buddhism
at some temple. I can't remember what the name was.

Yeah. That was the episode. She played Ciji. It was one of my top 5 favorites of Mama's Family.

How big was Stacy Q in the 80's anyway? I have absolutely no recollection of her, I may have been a little young. But she guest starred on like all these shows. I even remember one where she was on Full House. I must've just totally missed the Stacy Q era. One other thing, do we have to look at her tiny emaciated body every time she's on? I was so much less sick to my stomach when she wore a t-shirt that covered her stomach, or what was left of a stomach.

Stacey Q in her 86-87 heyday would be comparable to someone like Mandy Moore today. Stacey was moderately popular, but next to Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Whitney Houston, she wasn't near that league.

TWO OF HEARTS (which she performed on FOL) was a #4 hit in fall 1986, about the same time the episode aired. She had another top 40 hit in early 1987, but besides that, she faded into oblivion fast.

She was last spotted on VH1's WHERE ARE THEY NOW a year or so ago.

Ok, I don't know who Mandy Moore is either, so I guess I see where I missed out on Stacy Q also.

Many Moore?? Ew! I can't think of anyone who Stacey Q could be compared to today, because these days all these girls seem to be made from cookie cutters and no one sounds distinctive.

Anyone who likes 80's new wave should check out Stacey's band SSQ. I didn't find it bubblegummy or cheesy...it just different. Does anyone remember the song "Synthecide"? That was her. I wouldn't put her on my faaaavorite singer list or anything but I still listen to that vinyl and enjoy it a lot. I'll always be stuck in the 80's. I'm so old!!
