Default More trivia

Name all the girls with whom Wally had a prearranged date for a dance. I count 10; although one may be questionable and I don't have a tape of that ep.

I can't think of any now! Well, I did find a couple of LITB quizzes at a site. They are very easy!! I got a perfect score on both!

Default Re: More trivia

Without looking up episodes on the Internet, nor looking at a book, I tried to remember as many as possible. This is a good trivia question TDR, because at first, I wouldn't have believed their could be so many.

I'll get the ball rollin' with:
1) Mary Ellen Rogers - signed Wally up for the Cha Cha, or Choo-Choo as Larry Mondello called it.

2) Evelyn Boothby - ends up driving Wally to the dance

3) Kitty Bannerman - the girl Wally writes love letters to, and they both are happily surprised their dates are normal.

4) Carolyn Cunningham - the girl that Eddie thinks is "his girl" invites Wally to a dance, inwhich June accepts without checking with Wally.

5) Jill Barrett - the "gopher" (Beaver's phrase) that Wally ends up taking, because he is in charge of the Blind Dance Committee and can't find Jill a date.

6) Kathy Gregory - the date Wally has for the all night dance, where Kathy gets pushed into the fountain at daybreak.

7) Myra _____ - can't think of her last name, but she was played by Pamela Baird (who also played Mary Ellen Rogers). Myra is the head of the dance committee and wants Wally to buy her an orchid for the dance.

8) Gail Preston - Wally's "little" friend, who was nine feet tall. Everything works out fine in the end as Gail adjusts her height to make her look shorter.

9) Majorie Mueller - the girl that Wally originally was suppose to take to the dance before switching with Eddie for Gail. * (you might not accept this)

10) Carloyn Stewart - this one isn't exactly a true answer, but LITB shows Carolyn and Wally dancing together at Wally's party.

If no one comes up with all the correct answers, maybe I'll dig in my skull for possibly a couple more.

Oh yeah, in the episode where Wally wants to buy his own suit, which turns out looking like a "horse blanket," didn't he have a date lined up for the dance? I remember June asking him, "Wally, why did you boys decide not to take dates to the dance at the last minute?"

Maybe a girl's name wasn't mentioned in that one.

Right. She was also Wally's dance date in the earlier ep, "My Brother's Girl"

2) Evelyn Boothby - ends up driving Wally to the dance

Right; in "Wally's Chauffeur."

3) Kitty Bannerman - the girl Wally writes love letters to, and they both are happily surprised their dates are normal.

Right; in "Wally's Glamour Girl."

4) Carolyn Cunningham - the girl that Eddie thinks is "his girl" invites Wally to a dance, inwhich June accepts without checking with Wally.

Right; in "Eddie's Girl."

5) Jill Barrett - the "gopher" (Beaver's phrase) that Wally ends up taking, because he is in charge of the Blind Dance Committee and can't find Jill a date.

Right; but it's BartLett, in "Blind Date Committee," and it's Eddie who describes her as a 'gopher,' thought I think Beaver does mimic it.

6) Kathy Gregory - the date Wally has for the all night dance, where Kathy gets pushed into the fountain at daybreak.

Right; in "All Night Party;" but I overlooked that one.

7) Myra _____ - can't think of her last name, but she was played by Pamela Baird (who also played Mary Ellen Rogers). Myra is the head of the dance committee and wants Wally to buy her an orchid for the dance.

Right; in "Wally's Orchid."

8) Gail Preston - Wally's "little" friend, who was nine feet tall. Everything works out fine in the end as Gail adjusts her height to make her look shorter.

Right; in "Wally's Big Date."

9) Majorie Mueller - the girl that Wally originally was suppose to take to the dance before switching with Eddie for Gail. * (you might not accept this)

No, because he only drew her name and then traded names with Eddie in "Wally's Big Date;" she didn't even know he drew her name

10) Carloyn Stewart - this one isn't exactly a true answer, but LITB shows Carolyn and Wally dancing together at Wally's party.

I don't think so; it must be "The Party Spoiler" you mean.

It turned out I do have a tape of the one I thought was questionable, and she is not one. But the number remains at 10, since I overlooked Kathy Gregory. So that leaves 2 more; one of them is clear, the other does qualify as "ararnged," but it's not the typical party or school dance among Wally's friends.

Wasn't there a girl named Alma that Wally got suckered in to taking to a dance?

Not Alma Hanson, who is the one I checked out by tape to be sure. In "Wally and Alma" Wally draws her phone number as a date for a picnic. Then, after going to have dinner with her family, he gets invited to several events pushed by her mother; including a country club dance. But in the ep, they do not actually go through with the dance (even off-camera).

Thank you for the info about Alma. I DID remember that she had a pushy mother so I thought it must have ended with a date/dance somehow. Poor Wally, I never realized how many times he was set up with a girl to go to a dance. Wally was popular enough and good looking enough to find his own girls.

How about Julie Foster in the episode where she and Wally are going to be chaperones at a dance for younger couples? Beaver takes a young lady named Becky in that one.

Are you thinking of Penny Jamieson? That was for dancing school, and I didn't think you would include that.

By the way, I know the one girl's name is Jill Barlett. I don't know what made my type Barrett.

Yes, Julie Foster is the one in "not the typical party or school dance among Wally's friends." This was in "Beaver's First Date." I was not including Penny Jamieson because they only met and danced at dancing school; not a 'prearranged date.' I don't think I have a tape of that ep, but I can't remember their having an arranged date.

The last one is definitely a "pre-arranged date for a dance."

Ah, ha! I think I got it!

And may I add, I'm proud of myself of doing all these without looking at a list of shows. My memory isn't shot yet!

Before she became Julie Foster, the same actress (same slips me, uh-oh), played the part of Gloria Quesek (sp?).

In the episode of Wally's Pug nose, he goes to the dance with Gloria, and ends up arm wrestling with her.

I didn't mean to hog all ten answers, but their weren't any others responding to the question.

Thanks again TDR for somewhat a tough question. At first I was mystified when I began to think of them, but started jotting them down as my memory started pulling them out.

No, Gloria Cusick is not who I had in mind; but that's another ep I am not sure about. But even if she is one, there is still another which is unquestionably an answer.

Gloria asks Wally to the turnabout dance while talking in the hallway at school. Wally is shocked! And Gloria responds, "There's something about a cute little pug nose that gets me."
Wally: "How about my ears?"

So yes, you can add her to the list at make it eleven. If no one comes up with your last one, how about a hint?

Yes, Gloria would have to count, even though no suggestion is on film of their going through with the dance.

OK, hint: This girl had previously appeard in another episode, and from this ep it would likely not be considered that Wally would ever date her.

The "pug nose" episode ends with Wally coming home from the dance and talks it over with June and Ward in the living room. Wally thinks Gloria was "alright" because she didn't want to dance all the time. Then he tells about how they sat at one of the tables and Indian wrestled.
