Default 1978-79

OK, I just need to get this straight. I have seen, in at least 2 or 3 sources, that Three's Company was the #1 show in the 1978-79 season. In another 2 or 3 sources, I have seen Laverne & Shirley as the #1 show for that season. Does anyone know which show was actually #1? Could it be a tie?

I will also post this same topic on the Laverne & Shirley board...

I believe Laverne & Shirley was #1 in the 1978-1979 season, other sources list it as Three's Company, but those comprise of mistakes.

Yeah, I've noticed some sources listing Three's Company as being the #1 show in 1978-1979, including Come and Knock on Our Door by Chris Mann, but most sources list Laverne & Shirley as #1. I think it's safe to assume that Three's Company was #2. It was very, very close and L&S beat TC by a small margin.

The book i have only goes up to the 77-78 season since it was published in 79. It has L&S as number one for the 77-78 season. So i'm guessing it was number 2 after 78-79 because I don't think it was number one two years in a row. I haven't heard that L&S held on to the number one spot two seasons in a row.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it was number 1 from 77 thru 79. I just found another ratings website and it lists L&S as #1 in 77-78 & 78-79, with a few hundred thousand different in viewership between TC & L&S. I have also seen actual Nielsen clippings on E! True Story's that show it as #1 as well...there's no doubt about it...L&S was #1 in 78-79...now I'm curious...which show did everyone prefer that season?

Even though that wasn't directed to me, I'd thought I'd share this really great ratings website:

I heard that Laverne and Shirley got a 30.3 share, and Three's Company got a 30.1 share. Very close...

Yes, that is the same ratings website I went to...I tend to think that Three's Company biased publications want to put Three's Company as #1, when in reality it was Laverne & Shirley, another great show...

On the E! True Hollywood Story they showed clippings of Three's Company being #1 for the season. If that's wrong then was Three's Company ever officially #1 for the season?
