I said before, I'd say it again. Why doesn't Comedy Central air any episodes of Saturday Night Live before the 1989-90 season? They have the rights to SNL from the 1980-81 season through 2000-01 season until 2004. Do I have to wait until next year when E! gets the rights to every SNL season? I especially miss the early 80's SNL.
Not counting NBC's Classic SNL which airs early sunday mornings. (One episode a week, doesn't cut it, though I like the fact that it is the whole 90 minute show, not a 60 minute edit they have on cable) But between E! and Comedy Central, you can watch SNL reruns from the 1975-80, 1989-02 seasons. Almost the entire 1980's are lost in the middle. If Comedy Central will not air these episodes. Why don't they just give them to E! right now. Just we don't want these episodes (1980-89), you can have them right now. |

I think it's at Producer Lorne Michaels's request that the 1980-1985 era not be aired. When Classic SNL came out, only a few episodes aired, and one of them was one of Dennis Miller's Weekend Updates from 85 (I personally think that Miller, Nealon, and Chase were the best Update anchormen, with Jane Curtin, Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon coming in the rear).
