This is only my personal opinion, but I wonder if anyone else here feels this way:
I really HATE marathon programming! (I mean those marathons that last more than 2-3 hours at a shot). I don't care if they're running a marathon of my all-time favorite show or movie star....too much is too much! I would rather see the material spread out over a period of several days or weeks, instead of one big lump. Movie networks will do this too....They'll run 24 hours of Abbott & Costello movies, or something like that. One time American Movie Classics ran all 28 "Blondie and Dagwood" feature films in a row (that lasted a couple of days and nights). If you're a true fan, and they run these super-long marathons, there is NO WAY that you can sit there and take in everything....you're GOING to miss SOMETHING! Even if you want to tape the marathon, you can only get so much on a blank tape...even at the slow "extended play" speed...which ends up looking inferior to the faster "standard play" speed. No, I'd rather get a steady diet of my favorites on a regular basis instead of trying to gorge myself in one long sitting....but then, that's just me! Anybody ELSE feel that way? |

i do agree with you, because when they have a 24 hour marathon of one show, for example, nobody sits there and watches trhe whole 24 hours, so that means you'll miss something!!
...wait a minute... i remember the sci-fi channel had a 24-hour Farscape marathon once, and there were 2 or 3 people who posted on the message board that they watched all 24 hours... I think that's a little nutty... lol. Most people wouldn't do that! even that 4-hour Wings marathon wednesdays in the summer is a little long, i think. I don't think I would watch 8 episodes in one shot... I'll tape it and watch a few episodes in a row every night or whatever, but not 8 in a row! I loved the 2-episodes-per-night thing. that was great. but anything more than that of any show for me isn't the coolest... so yeah, I agree with you.... ~Krista

SOme people do watch a whole 24 hour marathon. I was able to do it with the show emergency and tape it also. It just depends on how well you like a tv show.

I agree with Krista. There's something to be said for too much of a good thing. Two episodes a night would be perfect. If you spread out all 172 episodes out into 2 eps a night it would take 86 consecutive days to run through the entire series (almost three months!)
