when i first seen all in the family when i was little i did not understand. but when i was a teenager i loved it. i made me laugh. well when i was pregnent when he died. i had her six days later. i was sad when he died because he was a wonederful actor. i have seen the last show of archie when edith dies and he sits in his chair. when i seen this one i cryed my eyes. i totally loved edith. well thank u. this was the day he died and it will be two years since his death. well i agree with u on this. that was a sad day when he died. he will be missed by all. i loved him in other show but this was the best i ever seen. i just wish he lived to be a hundred and all. but i know that will not happen. well thank u for listening to me rambling on and on so bye.

Okay, I'm really freaked at the moment. Yeah, I am freaked. See I got the AITF season 2 dvds for my bday. Unfortunately, I have to switch them and get another copy. Anyway, I was watching the dvds and I look at Carroll and I'm just thinking, damn, I love that guy. I've always said the man could make me laugh and could make me cry, too. Last night I looked Carroll up at imdb.com to see when he died. I can't believe he's been gone since 2001. Time just goes by so slow, yet so fast.

Yeah, it IS sad. BTW, (I'm just curious) did you name your daughter Carrol?

I still can't believe that Carroll O'Connor is no longer with us. It seemed so sudden. If I had heard he was terminally ill, it wouldn't have been so shocking.
I still have a hard time with his death. He's in my top 5 worst celebrity deaths along with John Belushi, Princess Diana, JFK Jr., and Phil Hartman.

Gee I think terminal ill deaths are more shocking. When you are elderly and you die of a heart attack, i think it is peaceful. No pain and you die. My mom die of cancer and I alway think of what she thought of her last month. It will be two years in a few days.

I find it shocking either way. If it was announced (Insert name) had cancer, it's shocking, but it kind of prepares you that the person might not be around much longer. It's just Carroll died so suddenly and I've never heard any news about him being ill. It was like *boom* and he was dead.

I've had experience with death, both sudden and expected. My sister died suddenly, and my parents died slow deaths of terminal cancer.
Losing someone you love is never easy, but I think it's more shocking when someone dies suddenly.
I wasn't shocked when my parents died. Devasted, yes.
Shocked, no.

Ditto. Here's where my weirdness comes to play, though. Okay, my last post I said it was shocking either way. That's how I feel about celebs dying. It changes if I'm really close to the person. My grandparents on my mother's side died very unexpectedly. My grandmother on my father's side died when I was a baby, so I have no opinion or thoughts of her. I can't remember her, so no thoughts. My grandfather on my father's side died pretty recently and it was sad, but it wasn't shocking. It wasn't shocking at all.

Ya I miss Carol O'Conner too. It's hard and sad when anyone dies wheather sudden or expected and I have experienced both. It was really sad when Carol O'Conner died because he was always one of my idols. What was great about him was he was a great person as well as a great actor. He gave to many charitys and dedicated his life anfter his son died to stop drugs. He was not a bigot at all in real life either and said that his family's circle of friends growing up where those of different races. He is truly missed but we just have to look at all the memories he gave us. Thank you Carol!

Carroll passed away June 21, 2001. I know some of the posts above said it was sudden, and it was in a way. He had health problems (Diabetes), and had lost some toes to it just before passing away. That disease is underestimated by many. You're not considered "terminal", but once you get past 65 or so, you really have to watch it. My Mother had it and controlled it as best she could. But it did lead to heart disease, and she died of a heart attack, just like Mr. O'Connor. She was 77, I believe Carroll was about the same age.

I believe you're 100% right, Walking Tall. You could see it in his expressions and voice. He was getting old when he took on that drug dealer. He became really old after that nightmare. He did a fantastic job trying to bring awareness to drugs and drug dealers. It took A LOT out of that man.

I can't imagine losing a child like that. After fighting that battle for his son, he very well may have lost the will.
