Ann had a distinctive voice and was wonderful as the voice of "the car" on "My Mother the Car"

Many have claimed that this is one of the worst TV shows ever made. Personally, I have never seen it. But if two great comedic talents like Ann Sothern and Jerry Van Dyke were involved, it couldn't be that bad. I know there were only 30 episodes, but I wish TV Land would run them some time.

I vaguely remember watching "My Mother The Car" when I was a kid. I read recently that Jerry Van Dyke turned down the role of "Gilligan" on "Gilligan's Island" in order to do this show instead. I don't remember a whole lot about the show, other than it was your typical 1960s "fantasy show", which was a form of sitcom that was very popular at the time. Just as Wilbur Post had to hide the fact that his horse could talk, and Tim O'Hara had to keep people from finding out that his "Uncle Martin" was really from Mars, Dave Crabtree (Jerry Van Dyke) was always engaging in bizarre behavior to cover up the fact that his mother had been reincarnated as a "1928 Porter".
