My pick would have to be the Jeffersons. Maude was a little to realistic to be a comedy.

While I enjoyed the Jeffersons a lot, I have not seen it in years so I can't remember a lot of the humor on it.
I recently saw Maude for the first time and I have over 100 episodes of the show on it's way to me - I'm a big Bea Arthur fan and I enjoyed the humor of the shows that I saw - (Maude Meets the Duke, Walter's Heart Attack, The New Housekeeper, Walter's Dream ). I've been told there is a lot of more political based episodes that aren't as funny, but I guess I'll find that out next week ![]() So I'm a fan of both shows, but I enjoy Arthur's comedy more right now (this could change though if I ever see the Jeffersons en mass soon!).

I like both shows, but I'd have to say my favorite is Maude. I loved the humor of it. Bea Arthur is a great actress.

It depends. Maude was not your average "family sitcom." It dealt mostly with political issues, abortion, etc. that were significant at that time. The Jeffersons was just a good funny sitcom that didn't need issues like that to be funny. Maude takes these things and makes them funny. I think my favorite episode from Maude is "Walter's Stigma" in which Walter is mistakenly arrested for lewd behavior and his alibi is that he was at a Donald Duck film festival. The Jeffersons was funny because it used family-oriented humor and didn't have to be political to be funny. It was basically like "All in the Family" with George Jefferson as a black Archie Bunker.

The Jeffersons. I think I saw Maude once, and as far as I remember it was good, but I'd have to see more eps.

Maude, I thought she had a sharp wit and at times the show seemed uproariously funny, but she has a dark edge, she tackled many realistic issues most of them being political. I don't think anybody could portray "Maude" as well as Bea Arthur did.

This is an easy question for me. To be quite frank, I LOVE The Jeffersons and resent Maude. In other words, I love one show and hate the other. I'm glad TV Land took our dear Maudie off the air but I resent the fact that they did the same thing to
The Jeffersons. |

That is a hard question, because both shows were great. But if I had to choose from the two it would probably be, Maude.
