Anyone remember a game show titled Let's Go to the Races? It was a franchised show like Bozo the Clown and Romper Room, where local stations coordinated with supermarkets to give away game cards enabling viewers an opportunity to win cash by predicting the outcome of horse races.
The show began in the 60s as a short filler and by the 70s it expanded to a weekly half-hour show. I remember the Minneapolis version which was sponsored by Super Valu. Let's Go to the Races is still on the air today, airing in Joplin, Missouri. The production company, TeleCom, was also behind the Monopoly game that was at McDonalds. I still remember the show's opening: Let's go for action. Let's go for excitement. Let's Go to the Races! |

I used to play this !!! However I never did win anything by playing.
Grand Union was the chain in my hometown that was involved. I also believe the host was Alan Hamel ( Suzanne Sommers husband ). |
