'Our Gang' Observations - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

This is one of my faves of the 5th Season!
1. I guess since Joanie would have been too obviously young to have appeared in the flashback, that's why she only gets a brief cartwheel scene in the beginning.
2. I was glad to see Marsha (the old Arnold's waitress) again and wished they had kept her as a regular. We never saw her in any context besides being a waitress and Arnold's spokeswoman and never learned anything else about her (family or romantic ties were never even hinted at) but she was someone who more than held her own and kept things running smooth there!
3. Fonzie's first dialogue to Richie was 'Falcons' turf!' and I thought it was funny how Potsie begged not to have his teeth KOed on account of having just had his braces removed (and having not eaten Tootsie Rolls in 3 years) but once the terminology was explained by Fonzie's flunky Monk didn't mind arranging the fight w/Richie. .. and proudly became a 'warlord'! That was about the funniest part of the piece!Typical that he and Ralph put in token appearances at the alley but were gone as soon as Richie said they weren't needed!
4. Richie lied a bit to Howard in changing the setting from Arnold's [and NOT Arthur's] to the school cafeteria where this unnamed hood confronted 'a nice guy' but I guess he didn't want to chance Howard forbidding him Arnold's access thereafter (he couldn't exactly tell his son not to eat in the cafeteria)! Still, Howard was alarmed but didn't give chase to Richie when Richie bolted to confront the unnamed hood (thus, Howard could honestly ask 'What's a Fonzie?' the first time Richie mentions him by name in the first episode!
5. Good touch for Fonzie's first 'AYY!!' to Richie being said as a low, threatening battle cry as he came into the alley!
6. Richie was spitting mad but he knew that he was outgunned by Fonzie- even when he faked the gun. .. and used a good bit of psychology by telling the Fonz that he was cool while the other Falcons were nerds using him- especially after asking Fonzie if he only felt tough wearing the gang jacket!
7. Fonzie's wheels were turning through the whole thing and I guess he was impressed that this wimpy nerd actually cared what would happen to him so that may have helped motivate his friendship and leaving the Falcons.
8. Interesting that there seemed to be NO girls whatsoever hanging onto Fonzie when he was a Falcon!
Any comments?

This is probably one of my favorites too. Don't get me wrong, I love the first two seasons, but the episodes just before Richie left had some of the best jokes and visual gags.

Anyway, I too found it interesting that Fonzie was chick-free as a Falcon. In this episode, at least. And Richie's lunchbox was a great prop.

Hehe... What's a Fonzie...? That's classic.

Thanks, FonzFan! It was fun watching this one. Too bad not all episodes were as fun (so forgive my upcoming post)!
