Question (Maybe) some TOUGHER TRIVIA

Let me throw one more at all of you,

There was a bit actor/actress who was seen in more than one episode of LITB. I know of four at the moment, but there might be more.

The episodes that I can think of, that person had only one line in two of the episodes, had a few in another, and had a major supporting role in yet another.

Hint: In the roles where they had more than one line, they had different character names.

GOOD LUCK !

Veronica Cartwright portrayed Violet Rutherford in a few of the earlier eps and also portrayed Peggy Macintosh in an ep from the final season. Is that who you were thinking of?

Jean Vander Pyl. Her major supporting role was as Mrs. Hanson in "Wally and Alma." She also played Penny Woods' mother in 2 eps, and I think I recall 3 other eps where she was a woman at a program or gathering; one was in "June's Birthday," where she was the one hosting the Mothers' Club meeting.

All very good guesses, and each could easily be the correct one, but the person I'm thinking of isn't any of these.

I wanted to put up a question about Jean Vanderpyl, but I looked through the old posts and saw she was discussed about two years ago. I was going to ask if anyone knew who was the voice of Wilma Flintstone, and which character(s) she was on LITB? That, of course, is Jean Vanderpyl. TDR mentions her character parts with expertise.

The girl that played Penny Jamieson and Alma Hanson had a pretty important role in a couple of episodes, so that isn't her, since that is more than one. But again, a fine guess.

Veronica Cartwright who played the "older" Violet Rutherford, and Peggy MacIntosh had what is close to what I'm thinking of, but again, she was considered a little too important in more than one episode (Beaver's rat, Peter Gunn; Beaver falls for a Southern Belle).

I've give you a hint on the person I'm thinking of...
They played a goofy kid in each appearance! Neither Wally and Beaver seemed to enjoy talking to this character, or characters they protrayed.

Again good luck and thanks for the great guesses so far!

I can't think of anyone who fits all your hints, but the closest I can come up with is Rory Stevens, who was Chuckie Murdock in 2or 3 eps, and the unnamed little boy in "Wally the Businessman." The only other guess I have is Jennie Lynn, who was Sally Ann Maddox in "The Big Fish Count," Patty in "Beaver the Babysitter," I definitely remember her in at least one other ep.

I think she was in the ep where Beaver uses the swear word and Wally is waiting in the hallway at Beavers school while Beaver is in talking to Miss Landers. She and another little girl approach Wally and start giggling.

You got it ! ! ! It's Jennie Lynn.
Did thinking of Chuckie Murdoch make you think of her? She was his older sister in one episode, in which Beaver feels he was tricked into babysitting her(as you said). This was her most major role.

And correct again, she played Sally Ann Maddox, being seen outside the pet store. This is the only other time I know she is given a character name.

Mijada was correct in saying that she was in the episode where Beaver swears in school. Wally is waiting outside Miss Lander's classroom and she comes up to him and starts staring.
Wally: "Why do you keep staring at me?"
Jennie Lynn: "We've just never seen such a big kid in grammar school before!" (She shows a big grin.)

The other one I can think of is where Beaver is pushing Penny's doll carriage home to get the wheels for his coaster. Beaver's too goofy to realize how dumb he looks pushing a girl's buggy. Two girls (one is Jennie Lynn) come up to him and ask him, "Hey, little boy, do you have you dolly in there?" (Beaver is older than the girls and starts running away with the buggy)

If anyone can think of anymore episodes where Jennie Lynn appears, I would sure like to know. Good job all of you with your guesses and answers. I thought it might take (a little) longer to get the correct answer, but you guys are just too sharp!

BeavLover,

Are you using a reference book to know so very much about the episodes and guest stars, or is this just knowledge picked up in the world and from looking at the end credits?

Brandon

Hi Brandon,

No, I don't have a book on LITB, but have been a fan since I was five years old (1965). It's one show that I never get tired of. I've taped episodes since 1985, but don't have all of them. I don't have cable, so I'm not up to date as a lot of you.

One problem is that I've got episodes taped all over my collection (about 300 tapes of various stuff), and I don't have all of it indexed. So finding an episode sometimes drives me nuts.

I'm not home enough to watch much TV, so that's why I don't have cable. Plus, the last time I had it, I received terrible service and some of my favorite shows were getting messed up with the reception. I did better taping off the local channels back in the 80's and 90's. Now LITB doesn't come on local channels, so I'm bumming out.

I think "TDR" is the most knowledgable person right now on this board. Maybe he/she has a book to help out.
