this is something ive noticed ever since i made a big deal (about nothing, i later found out):
when N@N first aired Cheers, I made a big deal about the season 1-3 theme only have one vocal track. well, time has made me think (and let me listen to original NBC season 1-3 themes), and Ive realized that ALL themes have double-vocal tracks. if you listen to a pre-N@N/AND non-syndication theme from season 1-3, you hear 2 vocal tracks. however, all of these themes are in mono. what happened is when they converted the theme to stereo in seasons 1-3 for remastering, the one vocal track (the harmony, which was Randomly "picked out") was put in the "rear" of the sound. that means to hear it well, you need at least 4 speakers, 2 in front and 2 in back. if u have surround sound, u know what I'm talking about. if u only have 2 speakers, u might faintly hear the harmony in the background, if they're good speakers. if this makes no sense, just tell me |

Doug,
That's not necessarily true. If you only have a two-speaker set-up, your stereo/TV will automatically "fold down" surround audio to stereo. |

what does "fold down" mean? i really dont know cuz i personally dont have surround sound on my TV (tho i do on my computer).
if what i think youre talking about is what im talking about, that's exactly what happens. It's still stereo when u only have 2, but when it "folds down"(if this is what you mean), it doesn't give all the sound. computers, and most new TV's today, do have a feature, tho, that simulates Surround Sound for 2-speakers. on my computer, its called SRS Surround. on my TV, its called HyperSurround. i think Sony TV's uses SRS too. this Does let u hear the harmony in the theme |
