Writes cool sci-fi/fantasy. Start with "Nine Princes in Amber"
or "Doorways in the Sand," since they are the easiest to get
into.

2. Lawrence Sanders
The absolute master of clever, witty mysteries.

3. Edith Nesbitt
Stories about children who discover magic. Suitable for
children, but great for adults too. One good one is "The
Phoenix and the Carpet."

I loved David Copperfield and Nicholas Nickleby. Never read "A Christmas Carol," but the movie is sure great (especially the 50s version with Alastair Sim).

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Morris Panych

They write pretty funny stuff. I reccommend Slapstick and Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and The Ends of the Earth and Seven Stories by Morris Panych. I haven't read all their stuff from both authors, but the ones I have read were really good.

Patricia Cornwell- my favorite author of all time... remember back when my name here was Kay Scarpetta? Yep... those are her books

Linda Fairstien- she's friends with Patricia Cornwell... Patricia recommended Linda. Great books. Reminds me a lot of the Kay Scarpetta novels

James Patterson- his books are just amazing, plain and simple

Elizabeth Wurtzel- I relate to most of her books

Patricia Cornwell is pretty good. I've really gotten into her books in the past year.
