It makes me so sick that all my favorite sitcoms are being released on DVD and not VHS. Can't they also be release on VHS? You can't assume that the entire country has a DVD player. Thoughts please.

Actually, sitcoms have been released on VHS over the years. I have an old Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode advertising a VHS box set of All in the Family from around the mid-1990s. I have another episode which Cheers was being released on VHS which had to be around 1993 because in the ad, they said that Cheers was going to be ending. So to answer your question on why can't they also be released on DVD, the truth is that they have been released. Maybe you didn't know about it.

It would cost a lot more on VHS and less people would buy it. There also isn't a big market for full seasons on VHS...there aren't that many series htat have a large amount of episodes on VHS, outside of Columbia House. One of the exceptions is Dark Shadows, it has all 1225 episodes out on VHS. werm

It's much more cost effective for the distributors to make DVDs rather than VHS. Plus, on DVD you get extra features that aren't available on VHS (skip to your favorite episode, extra footage, etc)

Either you suck it up and use VHS, or you suck it up and buy a DVD player. |

IMO DVDs are way more convienent, they're easier, and soon VHS will be really old news...it's like the cassette/CD thing.
