Angry I Hate Nick At Nite!!!!!!!

ok i have just copied and pasted the following information from the Sitcoms Online General Sitcom Questions and discussions sections.
Quote:
Finally it feels good to release the Who's the Boss? info (see Who's the Boss? board for more info on that):

Nick at Nite Announces First Original Series, Fatherhood

New Acquisitions Include Roseanne, Full House,
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Who’s The Boss?

New York, NY, May 6, 2003 – Nick at Nite, the home to modern classic TV, will premiere its first original animated series, Fatherhood, and add four sitcoms to its line-up over the next year, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, Executive Vice President and General Manager, TV Land and Nick at Nite during the MTV Networks Upfront presentation held in New York today. Based on legendary comedian Bill Cosby’s best-selling book, “Fatherhood,” this original series will premiere in January, 2004 and be executive produced by Cosby. Additionally, joining the roster of Nick at Nite’s hit comedies will be Roseanne, Full House, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Who’s the Boss?

“Fatherhood is the perfect complement to Nick at Nite’s award-winning line-up of sitcoms like The Cosby Show,” said Larry W. Jones. “There is no better way for the network to venture into original programming than to team up with Bill Cosby, and with our new slate of programming, Nick at Nite truly is home to America’s favorite classic sitcoms.”

Nick at Nite experienced its most successful year ever in 2002 as the network recorded its highest audience levels ever among total viewers and in its target Adults 18-49 audience. The network has built its reputation and brand by providing a prime time home for America’s favorite TV series and beloved shows from the past.

The following shows will air on Nick at Nite:

Fatherhood (January, 2004)

Nick at Nite’s first original animated series, Fatherhood, will premiere on the network in January, 2004. The series is based on Bill Cosby’s best-selling book “Fatherhood” and will star David Alan Grier (In Living Color, Life with Bonnie, Dag). Cosby will executive produce the series for the network along with Charles Kipps (Little Bill, The Cosby Mysteries, Law and Order) and David Brokaw (Little Bill). The project marks the third installment of Cosby’s animation “trilogy” which includes Little Bill for Nickelodeon, Fat Albert, and now Fatherhood for Nick at Nite.

Each installment of the animated series will be a comedic, yet insightful journey that features the challenges, life lessons and confusions of family life. David Alan Grier will star as the voice of Dr. Bindlebeep -- a high school teacher, loving husband and father of three. Sabrina Le Beauf, who played Sondra, Cliff Huxtable’s eldest child on the beloved hit sitcom The Cosby Show, will star as Dr. Bindlebeep’s wife. Sal Maniaci, Vice President, Development and Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite, is overseeing the project.

Roseanne (September 21, 2003)

Roseanne, one of the most talked-about and celebrated sitcoms in television history will join the Nick at Nite lineup with a five-night marathon beginning September 21, 2003. Roseanne’s poignant, funny and true-to-life stories of a blue-collar family stars Roseanne, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf. The show’s superb writing and talented cast have earned numerous Emmy, Golden Globe, People's Choice, and American Comedy awards, as well as the coveted Peabody and Humanitas prizes. Its huge popularity has translated into phenomenal performances in syndication, proving it is a classic, now and forever!

The show focuses on the life of Roseanne Conner, a blue-collar working mother with a big mouth, a big sense of humor and an even bigger personality. Roseanne not only tends to her home and takes care of her three kids -- Becky, Darlene and D.J. -- (Lecy Goranson and later Sarah Chalke; Sarah Gilbert and Michael Fishman) she also takes care of husband Dan (John Goodman) who was her high school sweetheart. She does all of this – in addition to working eight-hour days to ensure all the bills are paid.

Full House (October 6, 2003)

Full House was a popular family favorite from 1987-1995 and captured the funny, heartfelt moments of a close-knit family in San Francisco. When successful sportscaster Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) loses his wife in a car accident, he takes on the dual role of both father and mother to his three daughters: D.J. (Candace Cameron), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen). It soon becomes difficult for Danny to raise the girls on his own so he enlists the next best things to a nanny -- his best friend, Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier), and brother-in-law, Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos). Joey, a stand-up comedian, and Jesse, a long-haired musician, move into the home and chaos ensues as the men learn the ins and outs of raising children -- from changing diapers to setting rules. As years pass, the two men adjust to their different lifestyles and begin writing advertising jingles. Danny becomes the host of a popular talk show with Rebecca (Lori Loughlin), who eventually becomes Jesse’s wife and the mother of their twin sons, Alexander and Nicholas.

Who’s The Boss? (June, 2004)

Tony Danza starred in this comedy which aired from 1984 to 1992 as an ex-baseball player and widowed father of a young daughter. When Tony Micelli (Danza) decides to move from Brooklyn to suburban Connecticut to give Samantha (Alyssa Milano), a better life, he takes a job as a live-in-housekeeper for Angela Bower (Judith Light), a high-powered advertising executive. The divorced mother with a son of her own, Jonathan (Danny Pintauro), had been skeptical about hiring a man as a housekeeper, but Tony proved to bring order to the chaotic house and serve as a father figure to Jonathan. Mona, (Katherine Helmond), Angela’s sexy mother, adored Tony and hoped for years that the couple would eventually fall in love. The running theme of the show was Tony and Angela’s evolving relationship, and in 1991, the two finally admitted that they had fallen in love with each other.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (September 13, 2004)

Grammy-award winning rapper and actor Will Smith settles into his throne as the Prince of Bel Air when the hilarious hit comedy, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, joins the Nick at Nite line-up beginning September 13, 2004. Amid the hilarious comedy of clashing cultures as the wealthy Banks family opens their home - and their checkbook - to their needy relative Will, the teen adapts easily to their indulgent lifestyle and reminds them that the simplest pleasures of family life can't be bought at any price.

Co-executive produced by music legend Quincy Jones, the NBC comedy aired from 1990 to 1996 and focuses on Will (Smith), a teenager from a tough West Philadelphia neighborhood whose mother sends him to live with his wealthy relatives in Bel Air, California. It’s a tough adjustment for the teenager at first, whose streetwise ways don’t seem to fit in with their ornate mansion, luxurious cars and live-in butler. Will immediately clashes with Uncle Phillip (James Avery), a pompous, successful lawyer who was raised in a tough neighborhood much like Will’s and enjoys teaching him lessons and catching him on his crazy shenanigans. Aunt Vivian (Janet-Hubert Whitten and later Daphne Maxwell Reid) is the mediator between the two, and Geoffrey (Joseph Marcell), the always-proper butler, becomes one of Will’s closest allies. Among his cousins, Will enjoys teasing the preppy Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) and spoiled Hilary (Karyn Parsons), while taking teenager Ashley (Tatyana M. Ali) under his wing and becoming her confidante. The brood expands with the birth of Nicholas “Nicky” Banks (Ross Bagley).

Nick at Nite, the evening and overnight programming arm of cable's highest-rated network, is the home of television's modern classics including The Cosby Show, Cheers, Three's Company, Wings and Coach. The 17-year-old network, available in 86 million U.S. homes, offers timeless favorites the way our viewers love and remember them - in prime time and restored to their original graphic quality.

Roseanne won't last too long. It is already overplayed on TBS 3 times a day. Full House won't really appeal to anyone over the age of 13. Who's the Boss is probably the only show that will do well. N@N paid a lot of money to air Cheers on their network so I don't think it will get the late late night treatment. Even so, I'm taping every episode I can.

I agree about Cheers, Cheers and Cosby are Nick at Nite's favored shows. The new ones will get the horrible timeslots like Wings did. Heck they'll probably start airng more Cosby than they do now.

Hey I like Full House and I am over 13. I've liked it since Day one

i've said it before and i'll say it again...at least now we have the dvds (lets hope they go through ALL 11 seasons)....And it might be true about the other shows not doing well, but i know nick at nite, i've been watching it for the past 7 years. It's what they tend to do, even if the other shows don't do well for a couple of months cheers will be on in the late night time slot, and if all the shows don't find an audience like you said, what will most likely happen is that they'll bring back cosby. They haven't been merciful with cheers or it's audience in the past, why should we expect them to start now?

What happened to Cheers when Wings came on? They put it for half an hour at 1:30 they tried Wings out for a couple of weeks, but i would presume that they figured out that not as much people were watching Wings than Cheers so what happened? they brought Cheers back, the Exact same thing happend late last year when Coach came on, It took over but then once again Nick @ Nite realized they had lost a lot of audience who was holding out for Cheers at 1:30. But there seems to be a pattern here, They like to pick on Cheers, whenever they get a new show the first show to get moved IS Cheers, not Cosby. I highly doubt the cosby show brings in a larger audience than Cheers, and don't get me wrong i use to like cosby, the problem is they have over played and over marathoned every single cosby episode, Where as Cheers who had 11 seasons is kind of hard to "overplay" because 5 seasons being on for an hour every day and skipping the occasional episode approximately takes 2 months and a half to complete.

No offense taken.

I didn't realize that. They air more of Cosby and Cheers and Three's Co. than any of the other shows, so I figured they wouldn't mess with any of these three.

The only major problem I have with this is that I always thought Nick At Nite was about more Classic TV shows. I even thought it was almost a little too soon for N@N to air shows like Cheers, Wings and Coach, but these shows I really feel are too "new" for N@N. If worse comes to worse, maybe there'll be hope for Cheers on TV Land or something, even though that channel really shows more of the older classics. Nick @ Nite just disappoints me
