Default THe reason I lost interest in Jerry Springer

Too many topics about fetishes. And they were getting weirder. Men wanting women to walk on top of them. It just had gotten too out of hand. Anyone Agree?

I totally agree with you Solomon 100%. Both Springer and Donahue started the bandwagon going with their stuff about things too gory to talk about on these posts. I am very glad that Springer is opposite The Price Is Right where I am at because I don't watch shows like that. And wait until the kids get out of school for the summer and they see stuff like this at 10:00 A.M. in the morning. Some stations show him very late at night and that's what our San Antonio station needs to send him to the late night hours rather than 10:00 in the mornings.

I totally agree...it seems like there isn't just a simple topic on that show anymore. It isn't just some 'I'm in Love With my Boss' it's like the guy's boss comes out and she has a 'secret of her own' and she's a lesbian, then her lesbian lover comes out and says she's a man. I mean come on! I'm not sure if that was an episode but I know they've come pretty close.

I never had any interest in it to begin with, but I agree that it has gotten way out of hand. Ugh.

Gee whiz. Springer used to be a decent talk show. Infact, I loved it. I'm sure not many remember back in the early 90s, when it actually had taste. When did it go haywire? 97? Then after that, it got more strange, more grotesque, more unwatchable! "Men wanting women to walk on top of them?" That's one of the tamest topics I've heard or seen in the last few years, but that is still unbelievably bizarre. I can think of a couple topics I've seen in the past years. Gave me a trama seeing those shows. I never watch it anymore. Cannot believe this stuff has been allowed to make the air. How can this junk really have better ratings than the good old fashioned talk show ideas? Even some stuff in the earlier 90s Springer was "shocking" but not utterly tasteless. Maury went to pot too, athough not nearly as badly as Springer. Is he ashamed of his show? I would be.

Yeah the men were used to being cotrolled by women and would have the women walk on their back.LOL_after that I had to leave Jerry alone.

LOL, that junk is CRAZY. Have you ever seen where the guys will call themselves "adult babies" and have their girlfriends pretend like they are their mothers. It was too weird for words. If you ever see "Adult Babies" on the bottom of the screen, take the damn remote and CHANGE THE CHANNEL! Lol.

I use to watch the early Springer too. Then when the slapping episodes began I did watch it and I laughed too. Now I just cannot believe how trashy and tacky it's really become. Now I see the actors portraying their phony parts and it's just plain STUPID!

I've never really liked that trash anyway, although I've watched it a few times out of morbid curiousity. I'm dissapointed in our local UPN affilate for showing it at 3:00PM and 12:00 Midnight, when they own the rights to such shows as Star Trek: Voyager (which they only show once a week) and others. I really don't like talk shows that much anyway...

I forgot all about the slapping craze! That's about when my interest started to die down, but continued to watch sometimes. THe recent trashiness has just gotten to be too much so I haven't sat through a full episode in the past few years.

I used to be real into the talk shows. I guess it all has gotten to be so run-of-the-mill--and that consists of the basic trash topics. I can't stand the "baby mama drama," "I've got a secret--I cheated on you with your brother" garbage anymore. These shows back a while ago used to have more of an imagination with topics. I think they've lost they're appeal with the majority of people too, maybe because they've become so stale. Sally left last season because her show got ridiculously boring, Jenny is leaving this year (that show's become insane). Who knows how long Maury can last. And is Ricky even on anymore? I don't know if my local stations even pick her up.

Is there still profanity, fighting and nudity on that show? It seemed like every time I watched an episode one of those things happened every few minutes.

BJL,yes, there is still plenty of the same stuff that Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake, Jenny Jones, and Maury Povich still use on their shows. At least Oprah stopped doing that stuff long ago although I am not a fan of talk shows in general. I wish that there were talk shows that dealt with different issues besides "I Slept With My Mother-In-Law", "I'm In Love With My Boss",etc. More in the line of news worthy issues than the trash on now.
