What are some shows that you think were never given a chance by the netoworks?
Andy Richter Controls the Universe- A truly brilliant and funny show, but the idiots in charge at FOX cancelled it in place of even more of those ridiculous reality shows. Sports Night- I've only seen a couple of episodes, but it seemed like a great show. I don't understand why ABC cancelled it. Of course they are the same "geniuses" <note sarcasm> who kept Full House on for a decade (Sorry, Full House fans, but I hated that show.) Nurses- Funny show on NBC in the early 90's. It was a part of the Saturday night line-up with The Golden Girls and Empty Nest. I actually liked Nurses better than the other two, but it was the least popular of the three shows and was cancelled after only three seasons. I think NBC should have given it a chance on another night or something. It didn't seem to fit in with Golden Girls and Empty Nest at all, IMHO. The Five Mrs. Buchannens- Funny sitcom on CBS about four sisters--n-law and their mother-in-law. it only lasted a year. I thought it was a great show. Apparently, no one else did. |

Jenny staring Jenny Macarthy and Heather Paige Kent.
I thought that show was hysterical but I don't think it lasted even 20 episodes before it got pulled.

The Trouble with Larry - That show with Bronson Pinchot was LOL funny but CBS pulled the plug after only three episodes. It was not given a fair shake and other shows that are just outright lame was given a fair shake. It is beyond me that Becker is still on. Ted Danson is not a great actor what kept him in Cheers was the supporting cast that was LOL funny. Bronson Pinchot was excellent in that show The Trouble with Larry.
All Is Forgiven was not given a fair chance. Bess Armstrong was billed as the next Mary Tyler Moore. The show was enjoyable and had that feel of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Annie Macguire was an excellent vehicle for Mary Tyler Moore. The show was well done and Moore played a married woman this time. Get ready for a new thread on Bridget Love Bernie. A sitcom that dealt with interfaith marriage. That show came on in the early 70s. The show starred David Birney and Meredith Baxter. |

"The Rousters" starred Chad Everett, Jim Varney (probable ancestor of his Ernest character), and Mimi Rogers. In this comedy, Chad Everett played Wyatt Earp the 3rd, descendant of the famous lawman and member of a family of circus folk. Jim Varney was his idiot brother who fancied himself an inventor. He would convince other people at the circus to let him fix their appliances and then modify them beyond recognition - and not for the better either. I liked this show, but it didn't last long. The show was sunk by "The Love Boat" which it was shown opposite.

Let's see...
I agree with Snoop on "Sportsnight." An excellent show, that never caught on. Another show burried by ABC was "The Job" with Denis Leary, which was at the time the best comedy on ABC, if not all the networks. I might as well get my daily FOX rant out of the way... Two great recent shows that FOX canned (and there have been so many) were "Greg The Bunny" and "The Tick." Okay, I'll admit, one had puppets and the other had a guy runing around in a blue costume, but for cryin' out loud, both were funny and above all, they were original! I'll take over "Mr. Personality" or "Oliver Beene" any day. |

Family Guy: It should have hung around longer, FOX never gives any show a chance. All they show on there is reality junk.

Frank's Place - a solid, entertaining sitcom with no laugh track that was given no chance despite getting great reviews.
Stark Raving Mad - a little erratic at first but the potential was great with Tony Shaloub as an arrogant nutty writer. Good to see him not playing soft, exploring a nasty comic side. Get a Life - Bizarre and always funny. I'll never forget the scene after Brian Doyle Murray and the Sharon character find out they were tricked by Chris Elliot. They rip off his head and the next thing you see is the two of them running down the street kicking his head back and forth like a soccer ball. Classic. |
