I just never remember hearing California when I looked at the Brady Bunch. That neighborhood just looked so dull. I guess it was the suburbs

Definitely California coast. Greg would go the beach and surf all the time.

It was set in the San Fernando Valley outside L.A. "A Very Brady Christmas" even showed a scene with Alice at Los Angeles Airport (LAX) picking up some of the kids.

Indiana is where Florence Henderson was born. She was from the little town of Dale, between Evansville and Louisville, Kentucky, east-west and between Jasper and Owensboro, Kentucky, north-south.

Remember the episode where Carol's grandmother and Mike's grandfather visit? They were from Kentucky, south of Indiana.

I'm going batty. For some flaky reason I was thinking the Brady's originated in Indiana too, and then when they started getting "real groovy" they suddenly lived in CA. Or gosh, am I getting mixed up with another show...? Gee, I just don't know. Well, they were meant to live in CA during the first season. When Marsha lost her diary, Alice spilled the beans to Lucille Ball's maid, and Desi Arnez Jr. came by to visit. They must have been near LA then. And then we got the surfing, CA license plates.

Gee, Leave It To Beaver did the same thing. All signs (litterally, Eddie had one) pointed to Ohio early on, and then they get this whole 60s vibe, and the guys are surfing in the later years and it looks like they're in CA. Of course, maybe I'm outta sorts and The Brady Bunch was in CA from day one.
