What do y'all think of the episodes that featured the Bradys singing? I kind of thought they were cool trying to be the next Partridges or Cowsills.

I liked the music they sang on the show and believe they could have become a supergroup not only on the show but in real life, had they been given the chance.

Thoughts, anyone?

I liked their singing. I didn't care much for the Partridge Family show or their singing. I was always into the Brady Kids singing.

It wouldn't be the Brady Bunch if several episodes throughout the series didn't include their groovy tunes. Really, my whole purpose for watching The Brady Bunch, is to laugh AT them, and seeing them display their vocal and dancing abilities (abilities?) on camera, just hightens the laughter. But I cannot stress enough, that I do not mean that disrespectfully. Susan Olsen still recounts being teased in school "for playing that geek, Cindy Brady." I say, "Susan, you took it for the team! You were 1/11 of the geekiness, and you entertained us all!" And in my book, the singing took the geekiness to a whole new level. I love it.

I mean a group to have charted many hits on the Billboard charts like ABBA, the Beatles, the Bee Gees, the Commodores, and the Jackson Five. Their hits are even heard today on many stations.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking of the other meaning for "supergroup," which I could tell from your first post you weren't talking about. Ever heard of the other defintion? A "supergroup" also means a group whose artists formed together after becoming famous from another group. Supergroups don't really exist anymore. I really can't think of any unless I go back to the 80s.

Anyhow, as to whether the Brady 6 had a chance of consistantly rolling out Billboard hits, that's a tough call. You said if they were given a chance. Weren't they given a chance? Didn't they release an album in the early 70s? I don't know if they really meshed with the early 70s scene. I am hardly knowlegable in music at the time to even begin to predict how they'd do, mixed with all the other successful artists. My last post was all goofballness, because I really can't speak seriously on the subject. I would predict that they would have been a no-go as a supergroup (in the ABBA or Bee Gees sense), even if they were given more of an opportunity. The people that would buy Brady albums/records are pretty much the people that would watch the show. It's a certain audience, and I just am not confident the audience could be expandable. All though, on another note, certain successful artists today (I can talk about today, unlike the 70s), undoubtedly reach only certain groups and they can be number 1s. (Britney Spears, Justin TimberFlake anyone?) So it really depends.... The Bradys may have had a shot to make a mark in the industry. ???

One problem would have been their lack of musical talent. None of them had really fantastic voices. Greg and Marcia sang a little, but they were not hired onto the show for their musical skills.

David Cassidy could sing a little better. "I think I love you" was a big hit, and still is. But on some of the other Partridge songs even HIS voice was overdubbed.
