I've just finished watching this episode, and it was HILARIOUS...although kind of unusual.
For one thing, the Hackett brothers were not given much funny stuff to do or say....a few good lines here and there, but they really weren't the focus of the episode. However, everybody else had some GREAT material....from Lowell's angry tirade when he thought that Joe's friend Connor was a newly-hired second mechanic, to Roy acting like a mob hit-man when trying to help Antonio, Antonio's "Oh NO!" reaction to Roy's bungled attempt at help...and most of all FAY! Yes, Fay was absolutely HYSTERICAL in this episode! Her "confidential" aside to the gang after one of Roy's insensitive remarks: "I understand that as a child he ate a lot of paint!" and my personal "Fay" favorite: "It's like my grandmother used to say to me: 'Honesty Is The Best Policy'. Well, she wasn't really my GRANDMOTHER....She was just some broad that my grandfather was shacking up with!" That line got a big laugh from the studio audience....especially the way that Fay delivered it! And of course Helen going out of her way to lay those corny Southern sayings on Connor to turn him off....funny stuff! Yes, "Exit Laughing" may not have been your most TYPICAL "Wings" episode...but it sure was a FUNNY one! |

This was back when they were doing the show live on a stage, with a studio audience. For about the first 5 minutes of the show, every time there's a funny line and the audience laughs, you hear this LOUD and VERY annoying high-pitched CACKLE from some lady in the audience. It REALLY grates on your nerves! After about 5 minutes you don't hear this woman laughing anymore....I figured that since the show was being broadcast live, a studio usher probably asked the lady to move to a seat that wasn't so easily picked up by the studio mikes, or the engineers turned off (or lowered) the studio mike that was picking up that lady's laugh. In any event, that "Burns & Allen" show is a good example of someone having a very annoying laugh and not being phased by it! |

hehe yeah, It was a funny episode.
and that Connor's laugh wasn't as annoying as it was embarrassing. lol! If I was out with that guy, I'd be more embarrassed than anything. lol. I don't really think it was actually that annoying- just weird. hehe and yeah, Helen was very funny when she went out of her way saying all those southern sayings just to annoy him more. hehe. But the BEST part of the episode was Lowell's leaf-blower impression!! hahaha! that totally had me laughing out loud! So, do you guys think Joe got weird about Helen going out with Connor because he knew she would get annoyed about his laugh, or do you think it was what Helen was accusing him of- that he was jealous? personally, I think Joe was kinda jealous. hehe ~Krista
