Default Was Sanford and Son mentioned on Chico and The Man more than Once?

I found out that Chico made a reference to Sanford and Son about him not buying tires from Sanford and Son anymore. Was that the only time?

Yes, it was the only reference, at least when Freddie was on the show, I didn't watch the other shows enough to remember. And it was a piece of irony, because both shows used the same sound stage for filming! LOL

Hard to say. I do know that Freddie did admire Redd Foxx and that he was known for ad libing sometimes. I always wondered if that line in CATM wasn't an ad lib.

The other day I was watching SANFORD & SON & they showed the episode where Julio first comes on there. Well in that peisode Julios goat is named Chico! I wonder if that was a CATM reference.

Also last nite on a GOOD TIMES re-run (Freddie was friends with JJ) the neighbor Willona said to Bookman (Who played Big Bernie on CATM) YOU GOT IT! I wonder if that was a CATM reference too?

& The other week on a THAT 70's SHOW re-run a girl says Looking Good on there. I think she said it to either Eric or Kelso...

Freddie and Jimmy Walker were good friends back in NYC at the comedy clubs. Jimmy was the MC at the Improv the night that Freddie made his debut there (in which he drank too much and froze on stage, but fortunately they gave him a second chance another time) Jimmy and Freddie had known each other before that from Catch a Rising Star and other comedy clubs tho. From what I understand, they remained friends when they both moved to LA to do their respective shows.

If anyone is from the NYC area, Jimmy Walker is going to be performing at a place named Martini-Red/Muddy Cup in Staten Island sometime this summer, I'm not sure of the date, but I am friendly with the owner and can find out. I think he will be with a group names "the Crystals", not sure of the name. I'm going to try to go, maybe get a chance to meet him and ask about Freddie now that I know he knew him.

If they are the same group I am thinking of they were out in the early 60's & had hits like DA DO RUN RUN. Have fun at the show!
