Hey y'all! I know I haven't been here in a long time, but I missed y'all! I also miss writing fanfics, and I figured since it's almost summer (1 1/2 weeks till school's out!) that I might could start back up again. It's my first attempt at writing since the Fine Arts Festival in January (woo-hoo! I got 2nd place merit award in the state of Oklahoma and I'm goin 2 nationals in DC!), so please bare with me. And if someone's already written along this story line, just stop me. I don't know if anyone has, tho, cuz this is for real like followin someone close to me. Here we go!

A Rose By Any Other Name

(Blair is laying on her bed in her room, painting her nails with her hair up in a towel, when she hears the phone ring. She blows on her nails, then answers it.)
Blair: Hello?
Man: Hello, is Blair there?
Blair: This is she, may I ask who's calling?
Man: (Pauses and takes a deep breath.) This is Alex.
Blair: Alex Marshall? I... I don't think Jo is here.
Alex: No, I'm over Jo, we broke up a long time ago. I really wanted to talk to you.
Blair: Oh... (confusedly) Um, how are you?
Alex: I'm doing good, how are you?
Blair: I'm fine... I'm sorry if I sound rude, but why are you calling?
Alex: I just wanted to talk to you, I haven't seen you in a long time. Since me and Jo broke up, I was just thinking... well, nevermind. Are you and...
Blair: Joey?
Alex: Are you and Joey still together?
Blair: Yes, we're really very happy.
Alex: Oh... Well, I was wondering if-
Blair: (interrupts Alex) I really need to be going, as a matter of fact, I need to be getting ready for my date with Joey right now. Goodbye. (She hangs up the phone and just sits on the bed, staring at her nails with a confused look on her face. Jo walks in, and stops in the doorway.)
Jo: Blair, the one thing I thought you would never forget how to do was paint your nails. (Jo walks over and puts the nail polish bottle in Blair's hand.) I guess the blonde is really starting to kick in. (Jo starts to walk away.)
Blair: Jo, why did you and Alex Marshall break up? (Jo stops, then spins around.)
Jo: Why? He hasn't been talking about me, has he?
Blair: No, I was just wondering... I never bothered to ask.
Jo: Well, we just... He was really forward and stuff, and that's just not my style, if you know what I mean.
Blair: No, I don't. What do you mean?
Jo: I... Nevermind. (She quickly walks out of the room. Blair shrugs, then begins painting her nails again. A few moments later, Jo walks back in, looking flustered.) I forgot my book. (She walks straight to the book on her desk, then walks back out without giving Blair another glance.)
(((2 hours later)))
(Jo, Natatie, Tootie, and Mrs. Garret are in the kitchen, sitting at a table talking. Blair walks in from her date with Joey, not looking very happy.)
Mrs. G: Why, Blair, you're home early.
Tootie: (laughing) Yeah, for once.
Nat: Did you have fun?
Blair: Yeah... a lot of fun... Well, I'm tired, I think I'm gonna go on to bed.
Mrs. G: Are you sure? It's really early. (Stands up.)
Blair: (Shakes her head.) Really, I'm fine. Joey and I just had a good time, that's all.
Tootie and Nat: Goodnight. (Jo and Mrs. Garret just watch Blair as she goes upstairs. Jo stands up, too.)
Jo: I think I'm going to bed, too. Goodnight everybody. (Jo walks out as everybody says goodnight.)
(((Upstairs)))
(When Jo walks in the bedroom, Blair is just laying down, ready for bed. Jo walks over and sits on the bed next to her.)
Jo: Okay, Warner, what's up?
Blair: What do you mean, what's up?
Jo: For one, you came home early. For two, you said, what, 3 words about your date tonight? You usually make us sit through every little detail! For three-
Blair: (interrupts angrily.) Okay! Do you really want to know what's going on? I'll tell you what's going on! (Blair stops, and taked a few shaky breaths.) What's going on is that for once I really think I like a guy- I mean really like him- and someone I don't even know is messing with everything. I've been thinking about him all night, and-
Jo: It's Alex, isn't it?
Blair: (Almost sadly.) Yeah... I had just hung up with him when you walked in earlier. He... He wanted to know if Joey and I were still together, and I told him yes.
Jo: Well, that's the truth, isn't it?
Blair: Jo... You went out with him, you should know. There's just something about him I don't understand. Something mysterious, like it seems to-
Jo: Draw you to him? Yeah, I do know. Blair, he's a great guy. I just don't know if he's your type.
Blair: There you go again! Not my type, not your type, just what "type" is he? Who does he belong with?
Jo: Someone that's like him.
Blair: (Angrily.) Well, who's like him?!? I mean, if there's something you're not telling me about him, you need to spill it, because I'm not going to break off my relationship with Joey just for some 1 week fling with a "mysterious" guy that's not my type!
Jo: (Awestruck) You're really going to break it off with Joey?
Blair: I... I don't know what to do. It's not fair to Joey to have my thoughts constantly on Alex. Maybe I'll forget about him tonight, but maybe never. I don't think this feeling is something that I can just wish away, or ignore.
Jo: (Sighs.) Blair, you have to understand, he's-
Blair: Not my type, I know.
Jo: No... What I was really going to say was-
Tootie: (Walks in.) Hey, you guys aren't in bed yet?
Blair: We were just talking.
Tootie: (Frowns and shakes her head.) Blair and Jo talking? What a strange day... Well, I'm going to bed. (Yells.) Nat, you coming?
Nat: (Walks in with pajamas and a little stocking cap on.) Yeah. Do you guys like my jammers?
Blair, Jo, Tootie: Goodnight Natalie! (Turns out light.)

I should have more by Friday, would be sooner but I have softball junk...

(Jo walks into the house and sees Blair talking on the phone in a hushed voice. Blair glances up at Jo.)
Blair: (Talking into phone.) Well, I really need to go... (Laughs.) I know... Yeah, that sounds good... Um... (Looks at Jo.) Yeah, me too, bye. (Hangs up the phone and speaks to Jo.) Hey... Um, that really wasn't anyone, if you were going to ask.
Jo: Well, don't worry, I wasn't gonna ask. Sheesh! (Jo walks upstairs, and Blair begins to watch TV, but the phone rings again.)
Blair: (Answers phone.) Hello?
Alex: Hey, I just wanted to know if we could change that to 9:00 Friday night instead of 8, I have things I need to do before then.
Blair: That's good. I'm sorry about earlier, Jo walked in. (As Blair is talking on the phone, Jo begins to walk down the stairs, but stops when she hears her name and listens.)
Alex: So what movie do you want to see?
Blair: Are we really going to be watching the movie?
Alex: Good point. Hey, have you broken up with Joey yet?
Blair: No, I um... (Crosses fingers.) was just going to call him when you called back.
Alex: Well, be sure you call him before Friday, okay?
Blair: Trust me, you have to worry more about what movie we're going to... uh, watch... than Joey. We'll be history by then.
Alex: (Laughs.) Well, I'll call you tomorrow and we'll figure something out, okay?
Blair: Okay.
Alex: Bye, I love you.
Blair: Bye, I love you, too.
Jo: (Quickly goes up the stairs, then begins walking back down to make it look like she was just coming down.) Hey, who was that?
Blair: (Quickly.) No one. (She gets up and leaves the room.)
Jo: (Walks over to the phone and dials Alex's number.)
Alex: Hey, this is Alex.
Jo: Alex, I-
Alex: -can't come to the phone right now, but leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. (Beep)
Jo: Alex, one word of advice. If you lay a hand on Blair, I swear, the whole world will know everything you did. Everything...

(Blair slides into her seat as the tardy bell rings for 1st hour. Whispers and accusing stares whirl in the air around her. She leans over to a friend sitting beside her.)
Blair: (Whispers.) What's going on, did I miss something?
Ashley: Well... Are you going out with Alex?
Blair: (Shocked.) How did you know?
Ashley: Blair, who doesn't know? Alex has been going around telling everyone!
Blair: Even...
Ashely: Yeah, even Joey. He's pretty ticked at you right now, I would talk to him. But what I can't understand is why are you with Alex?
Blair: Why shouldn't I be with him? He's great!
Ashley: Obviously you haven't heard about him and Alyssa.
Blair: No, what happened?
Ashley: The only reason he went out with her is to have sex with her. When she said no, he got mad and almost raped her.
Blair: Almost?
Ashley: His brother walked in. They were in his room, "watching tv," when it happened.
Blair: (Almost yells.) And why wasn't I told about this?
Ashley: Shh! I thought you knew!
Blair: Nope, guess not...
(Blair turns around as the teacher walks in, and class begins.)
(((Lunch)))
(Blair walks into the cafeteria, then immediately turns around when she sees Joey siting at the table closest to the door. She makes it a few feet, then feels a hand on her shoulder spin her around.)
Joey: What do you think you're doing?
Blair: I... I...
Joey: That's right, you. That's all you ever think about. Not that it would bother me as badly if you had went behind my back with a normal guy, because I was expecting that, but with Alex?
Blair: (Angrily.) Where do you get off calling Alex "not-normal"? He's more normal than you'll ever get!
Joey: (Takes in a deep breath to calm down, and speaks seriously.) Blair, do you know what you're doing? I mean, really. Do you know what he's done?
Blair: Don't you mean, what we think he's done. None of us are sure. Do you really know that Alyssa wasn't lying? You know how she is!
Joey: She's not the only one! (Pauses.) I'm just saying, take care of yourself, okay? (He gently runs his finger down her cheek.) I still care for you.
Blair: (Closes her eyes and just stands there. A few moments later, she looks at him. Her voice cracks and her eyes sparkle with unshead tears as she speaks.) Joey, I still care for you too, but I don't feel the same way about you as I do Alex. I mean, I had to stop myself from kissing you just now. Is that wrong?
Joey: (Sadly smiles.) I think I'm a little biased here, Blair... Listen. Do what you want to do, I won't try to stop you. But don't be so sure that I'll be here if you want to come back to me.
Blair: I'm gonna go eat lunch, okay? I just wanted to say... I'm sorry. (Joey shakes his head and walks off, while Blair slowly makes her way to the cafeteria.)

(The phone rings, and Jo answers it.)
Jo: Hello?
Alex: Hey, Jo, this is Alex.
Jo: Yeah, I noticed.
Alex: Well, I got your message. Really nice.
Jo: And I meant it.
Alex: As I could tell. You know I wouldn't hurt a fly.
Jo: Blair isn't a fly.
Alex: No, but she's as fast as one.
Jo: (Shocked.) You... you-
Alex: No, but I can tell. She has that way of talking to me, like she would do anything for me. And I fully intend to make her do so.
Jo: Everyone will know what you-
Alex: Not like everyone doesn't suspect already. I guess I seem to have this... reputation. (Laughs.) Don't worry, I won't hurt her. I kinda like her, actually.
Jo: Alex, don't- (She hears a dial tone, and then the door opens. She quickly hangs up the phone, and looks up to see Blair walking in the doorway. Blair walks over and sits down next to Jo.)
Blair: Um, Jo? Can I ask you something?
Jo: Sure, Blair, what is it?
Blair: Did Alex ever, you know, try something with you? I've been hearing some things at school about him, and I'm kind of worried.
Jo: Look, I told ya, he's just really forward. Some people take that the wrong way. I take it for what it's worth.
Blair: So he never-
Jo: Blair, quit worryin', quit askin things. If you go out with him Friday you'll find out.
Blair: (Smiles.) I knew it wasn't true. (Blair runs up the stairs to her room. Jo puts her head in her hands. Mrs. Garrett walks in to find her like this.)
Mrs. G: Jo? Are you okay?
Jo: (Still looking down.) I don't know what to do!
Mrs. G: (Sits down by her and puts a hand on her back.) What's wrong?
Jo: (Looks up with a tear rolling down her face.) What would you do if a friend asks you a really personal question that no one knows the answer to, and if anyone finds out you'd be an outcast? I mean, the question is really important to her, though.
Mrs. G: Well, if it would mean that this friend would get hurt, I would tell her the real answer. She wouldn't be asking something that she knew was personal if she really didn't mean to know.
Jo: Yeah, you're right, but I've never told anyone about this, I'm kind of... well, scared.
Mrs. G: Is it something that you should have told someone?
Jo: No... It's nothing. Thanks, though, Mrs. Garret. (Jo walks upstairs to her room.)
(((Upstairs)))
(Jo walks in the room and sees Blair sitting on her bed doing homework.)
Jo: Blair? I need to tell you something.
Blair: (Doesn't look up.) What?
Jo: I... um... I think I failed that Chem test today.
Blair: (Shrugs shoulders and keeps doing homework.) Can't win 'em all. Excuse me, but I'm trying to do my homework. Do you mind?
Jo: No... no, of course not. Sorry. (She sits down on her bed.) Need any help?
Blair: Uh, no. Thanks anyway. (Blair keeps doing her homework, and Jo sighs heavily and lays down on her bed.

Posts: 1,011	Yup, just one of those things... lol, well, here's more! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (((Wednesday at school))) (Blair slides into her seat as the tardy bell rings for 1st hour. Whispers and accusing stares whirl in the air around her. She leans over to a friend sitting beside her.) Blair: (Whispers.) What's going on, did I miss something? Ashley: Well... Are you going out with Alex? Blair: (Shocked.) How did you know? Ashley: Blair, who doesn't know? Alex has been going around telling everyone! Blair: Even... Ashely: Yeah, even Joey. He's pretty ticked at you right now, I would talk to him. But what I can't understand is why are you with Alex? Blair: Why shouldn't I be with him? He's great! Ashley: Obviously you haven't heard about him and Alyssa. Blair: No, what happened? Ashley: The only reason he went out with her is to have sex with her. When she said no, he got mad and almost raped her. Blair: Almost? Ashley: His brother walked in. They were in his room, "watching tv," when it happened. Blair: (Almost yells.) And why wasn't I told about this? Ashley: Shh! I thought you knew! Blair: Nope, guess not... (Blair turns around as the teacher walks in, and class begins.) (((Lunch))) (Blair walks into the cafeteria, then immediately turns around when she sees Joey siting at the table closest to the door. She makes it a few feet, then feels a hand on her shoulder spin her around.) Joey: What do you think you're doing? Blair: I... I... Joey: That's right, you. That's all you ever think about. Not that it would bother me as badly if you had went behind my back with a normal guy, because I was expecting that, but with Alex? Blair: (Angrily.) Where do you get off calling Alex "not-normal"? He's more normal than you'll ever get! Joey: (Takes in a deep breath to calm down, and speaks seriously.) Blair, do you know what you're doing? I mean, really. Do you know what he's done? Blair: Don't you mean, what we think he's done. None of us are sure. Do you really know that Alyssa wasn't lying? You know how she is! Joey: She's not the only one! (Pauses.) I'm just saying, take care of yourself, okay? (He gently runs his finger down her cheek.) I still care for you. Blair: (Closes her eyes and just stands there. A few moments later, she looks at him. Her voice cracks and her eyes sparkle with unshead tears as she speaks.) Joey, I still care for you too, but I don't feel the same way about you as I do Alex. I mean, I had to stop myself from kissing you just now. Is that wrong? Joey: (Sadly smiles.) I think I'm a little biased here, Blair... Listen. Do what you want to do, I won't try to stop you. But don't be so sure that I'll be here if you want to come back to me. Blair: I'm gonna go eat lunch, okay? I just wanted to say... I'm sorry. (Joey shakes his head and walks off, while Blair slowly makes her way to the cafeteria.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- See y'all lata!

(((Wednesday night))) (The phone rings, and Jo answers it.) Jo: Hello? Alex: Hey, Jo, this is Alex. Jo: Yeah, I noticed. Alex: Well, I got your message. Really nice. Jo: And I meant it. Alex: As I could tell. You know I wouldn't hurt a fly. Jo: Blair isn't a fly. Alex: No, but she's as fast as one. Jo: (Shocked.) You... you- Alex: No, but I can tell. She has that way of talking to me, like she would do anything for me. And I fully intend to make her do so. Jo: Everyone will know what you- Alex: Not like everyone doesn't suspect already. I guess I seem to have this... reputation. (Laughs.) Don't worry, I won't hurt her. I kinda like her, actually. Jo: Alex, don't- (She hears a dial tone, and then the door opens. She quickly hangs up the phone, and looks up to see Blair walking in the doorway. Blair walks over and sits down next to Jo.) Blair: Um, Jo? Can I ask you something? Jo: Sure, Blair, what is it? Blair: Did Alex ever, you know, try something with you? I've been hearing some things at school about him, and I'm kind of worried. Jo: Look, I told ya, he's just really forward. Some people take that the wrong way. I take it for what it's worth. Blair: So he never- Jo: Blair, quit worryin', quit askin things. If you go out with him Friday you'll find out. Blair: (Smiles.) I knew it wasn't true. (Blair runs up the stairs to her room. Jo puts her head in her hands. Mrs. Garrett walks in to find her like this.) Mrs. G: Jo? Are you okay? Jo: (Still looking down.) I don't know what to do! Mrs. G: (Sits down by her and puts a hand on her back.) What's wrong? Jo: (Looks up with a tear rolling down her face.) What would you do if a friend asks you a really personal question that no one knows the answer to, and if anyone finds out you'd be an outcast? I mean, the question is really important to her, though. Mrs. G: Well, if it would mean that this friend would get hurt, I would tell her the real answer. She wouldn't be asking something that she knew was personal if she really didn't mean to know. Jo: Yeah, you're right, but I've never told anyone about this, I'm kind of... well, scared. Mrs. G: Is it something that you should have told someone? Jo: No... It's nothing. Thanks, though, Mrs. Garret. (Jo walks upstairs to her room.) (((Upstairs))) (Jo walks in the room and sees Blair sitting on her bed doing homework.) Jo: Blair? I need to tell you something. Blair: (Doesn't look up.) What? Jo: I... um... I think I failed that Chem test today. Blair: (Shrugs shoulders and keeps doing homework.) Can't win 'em all. Excuse me, but I'm trying to do my homework. Do you mind? Jo: No... no, of course not. Sorry. (She sits down on her bed.) Need any help? Blair: Uh, no. Thanks anyway. (Blair keeps doing her homework, and Jo sighs heavily and lays down on her bed.
