Default How did Steve & Laura meet each other?

In an early episode, Steve says he's loved Laure Lee Winslow ever since kindergarten. And throughout the first few seasons they keep mentioning that that's where they first met. Then all of a sudden, in an episode in season 5 where Eddie wants to set Laura up with one of his friends, Laura says 'I really don't like blind-dates. THAT'S HOW I MET STEVE URKEL!

Did anybody else notice that? A huge inconsistence.

It wasn't a inconsistency because in season one, Carl set laura up on a blinddate with Steve Urkel when she didn't have a date for the dance. So Laura was referring to particular episode when said-"i really don't like blind-dates. THAT HOW I MET STEVE URKEL! LOL-her father was the one who introduced us to Urkel. I can't recall how he knew Steve in order to hook her up with Laura.

Yeah. but Laura knew Steve before that particlar date. That was not where she met him for the first time. And I can clearly remember Steve saying that kindergarten was where he first laid eyes on Laura.
But in later seasons, Laura claims she met Steve for the first time on a blind date. This is an inconsistency.

Well on the episode guide-tvome.com, it stated that was Urkel's very first appearance on Family Matters. Maybe it was a mistake.

I just checked the guide again, and up until that episode, There was no mention of Urkel in the first 11 or 12 episodes. Not even as a guest star.

They knew each other from kindergarten according to earlier seasons. I heard it with my very ears. So it really doesn't matter whether Laura was reffering to their date on ep. 12 or not. The fact is, in later seasons she said she first met him on a blinddate, and that can't be true, unless the two went on a date before kindergarten.

Yeah you are right. I did hear Steve say he met Laura in kindergarten. But she is saying something totally different.

Maybe Steve first saw HER in kindergarten, but since he was a nerd - and she was cool, they'd be in two sepearte "classes" and maybe Steve didn't have the courage at the time to talk to her.
Since Laura had always been ignoring him, she considered that they first met when Carl set up their date. While, if we heard Steve's side of the story, they met much earlier.

yeah, i agree with davy. i noticed that "inconsistency," too, a while ago, and just figured that laura didn't really get to know, or meet, steve urkel until the blind date thing. in that episode, i think steve even makes a reference to how he'd always had a crush on laura since kindergarten, but she never gave him the time of day.

funny how things changed, eventually.

Question I don't remember

I don't remember that. What were the names of the episodes when this happened both of the episodes I mean?

I remember him saying he loved Laura since he first laid eyes on her, but is that so in Kindergarten?

I don't remember the exact episode. It had to be something from the first two seasons or so.

But I do remember the episode where Laura says she first met Steve on blind date - there were two of them, actually - No. 106 from 1993 and No. 144 from 1995. Check the episode guides for synopsis.
