I'll say this...

This and the other night's episode have been my first exposure to the character of Alex....and I certainly hope that she becomes funnier and more likeable as her appearances progress.

Right now she's just striking me as an unfunny B*TCH!

Helen kicks butt, but at least she's funny when she does it...but Alex has that stone face and flat delivery.

Somebody PLEASE tell me that she gets better in future episodes!

Another classic line delivered perfectly by Tim Daly.

Alex: All right Ace, you win, I know when I've been licked.

Joe: Oh, so last night is coming back to you.

I liked the way the Joe/Alex "unknown" was driving Brian crazy. When he tells the poor little girl to "Get out of the way" that was vintage Steven Weber. His facial expression was great.

I don't remember too much about Alex actually. I do remember some eps where she was dating Brian, and I'm curious see them again and interact as a couple. I don't think I'd like Alex with Brian permenently though. He's too fun-loving for her. I didn't like Casey and Brian together either.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to take Brian then, huh?

Pilotguy, I always figured with the Alex character the writers were trying to go as opposite as they could from the Helen character. They wanted somebody rough around the edges and a little cold. And she certainly was. Going through the tough breakup with the boyfriend in Florida and then finding out he was already engaged probably added to her harshness and inability to show feelings. But I still liked the Alex character when I first watched the show, and I still do now.

OK, I've heard some pretty good things here about Alex, so I'll give her a chance....

Come to think of it, I had a hard time adjusting to Kirstie Alley when she first joined "Cheers" too!

I like Alex too. I think she made a good contrast to Helen and Fay, just like Roy was a good contrast to the other guys.

Some of my favorite lines:

Joe "The airport's all talking about it? This island is really due for a Cineplex."

Fay "It sounds like there's a mugger in there with Roy. Antonio, shouldn't you do something?"
Antonio (just sits there) "Go away, mugger. Leave our friend Roy alone."

Alex "I can tell you anything?"
Helen "Yes."
Alex "People around here have said that they don't like what you've done to your hair."

Too funny!

oh, and I watched this episode a second time last night (yeah, I've been doing that lately- since i've been taping it every night, every night I rewatch the episode from the night before at 12:30. #1- to keep myself awake for the 1:00 episode, and #2- because it's fun to watch an episode a second time because there's always stuff you miss the first time)
so anyway, I forgot to comment on this the first time I saw it-
The part when Faye, and Antonio, and Brian are sitting at the lunch counter, talking about Joe and Alex, and Helen says "I bet they did it." and Faye has this puzzled look on her face and says "Did what?" and Antonio says "The wild thing." and then Brian says, "Yeah, but with Joe, it would just be the thing." and Faye is like, "this is so embarrassing." and Helen says "I'm sorry. we're being crude." and Faye says "No it's not that. You're being vague. I have no idea what you guys are talking about."
I just thought that whole thing was really funny.
Except... it seemed kind of weird for Faye to not know what they were talking about! Come on!

oh, and i forgot about this too!- When Alex confronted Joe when he was working on the plane, and it end up that she doesn't even really remember what happened the night before... so Joe's kind of teasing her about it.. that part when he gets real close to her and his voice gets all husky, and he says "then how do i know you have 7 pillows on your bed?" or whatever he said, and then he walks around her, and into her ear he says, "i have work to do..." and walks away..
holy hell, that was hot! lol sorry. But you know, Brian's always joking around about how Joe is all conservative and stuffy and all that...
That's totally not true. hehe.
Joe sure knows how to flirt. ooooooooo.

alright, I gotta get back to studying. talk to you all later!

FYI - I think Joe said "scented" pillows.

The diff between Joe & Brian is that Brian probably would have undressed her for bed!!!

Oh no it's NOT! In my office, I work with a lady (a widow) who is about Faye's age....and while she's a very nice person, I'm always AMAZED at how CLUELESS she is when it comes to stuff like that!

Whenever she watches a TV show or movie, and there are references to things of a sexual nature, most of the time she ends up asking one of the younger people in the office what certain things mean.

When I saw Faye having no idea of what the airport gang was talking about, I nodded my head, laughed and said, "Yup, there's (my co-workers' name)!".
