Default Ex-'NYPD Blue' Star Delaney Enters Rehab

Ex-'NYPD Blue' Star Delaney Enters Rehab

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK - More than a year after she was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Kim Delaney has entered rehabilitation for alcohol addiction, her publicist said.

The actress went into an Arizona treatment program in late April, People magazine reported in its May 19 issue. It's unknown how long she'll stay.

"Due to a stressful year, Kim made the decision to enter a program at Sierra Tucson," said her spokeswoman, Robin Baum.

Delaney, 41, was arrested in January 2002 after she was seen driving erratically on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, Calif. She later pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to probation and a safe-driving course.

In November, Delaney was asked to leave the CBS drama "CSI: Miami" after just 10 episodes because "the character of Megan Donner was becoming less integral to the series," the network said.

She won a best-supporting actress Emmy in 1997 for her portrayal of police Detective Diane Russell on ABC's "NYPD Blue"

It's sad. She was good for years on "NYPD Blue," then left to star in her own series, "Philly." "Philly" was good, but was cancelled after a season or two. She immediately found a new job on "CSI Miami," and was immediately let go, despite the fact that her acting was as good as anyone else's. I wonder if the booze was the cause or the effect. I'm not a Kim Delaney fan in particular, but it sure seems like she's had some hard luck, despite doing good work.

Oh,I didn't know she had a drinking problem.I used to watch NYPD Blue all the time, when Jimmy Smits was still there.I've not see it in a long time.I wish Jimmy didn't leave.

I like Kim Delaney on those shows mentioned. I was getting to like Philly right before they cancelled it. Kim was just on an episode of NYPD Blue 2 weeks ago, the one before the finale. I hope to see her back on TV sometime in the future.

Kim Delaney also gained fame in the early 80s for her role as Jenny Gardner on "All My Children."
