Thumbs down

Oh my God, I was ready to beat the TV in. It was way too obvious and only an idiot wouldn't have noticed. Once or twice would have been skeptical, but that guy coughed like 3 or 4 times each question! If I were them, I'd just fess up because there's no way they can possibly get out of this one and come out innocent. I mean, how much lower can you get? Cheating on a game show?

Oh, and I think it's hilarious when they were walking down the streets and people started to cough at them. I'd do that too. Maybe even fall over coughing and choking.

LOl yeah... and that wife had like.. no zest at all. They had to have made some kinda deal with the other guy because if I was a contestant I know I wouldnt help him cheat!! But, I know they go way back so it was all pre-planned. And the pagers only add more evidence to the case. "Allergies" my ass! LOl, and leave it to Reeg to give his opinion.

I agree, they cheated. After a certain amount of evidence starts pointing in one direction, it gets pretty hard to ignore. I loved when Diane Sawyer said to that one guy, "There is no known medical condition that causes you to cough on the right answers of quiz show questions!" Nobody would guess on the last two questions if he didn't have help!

You're right Kristen. I think greed ultimately did them in.

I watched a lot of the show (not all), but they really dragged it out didn't they? (had to be 20 minutes of commercials)

So what happened to them anyway?
They were found guilty (I assume) and what then?
No jail? Is it under appeal?

What was the final outcome?

Yes, they did drag it out. That show didn't have to be 2 hours long.
The couple and the professor were found guilty. They all received suspended sentences (3 years for the couple, 1 year for the professor, I think).
The couple got slapped with a fine of $80 grand and the teacher--a $16 thousand dollar fine.
The Major and the professor resigned and are looking for work. With legal fees, etc, the couple is a million dollars in debt.
Ironic, isn't it. They now owe what they were trying to steal.
