Default Don't you hate it when...

A station is playing a song you really like whose artist you don't know, and the DJ won't tell you who did the song after it's over?

Oh that has happened to me before. When I was in elementary school, there was this instrumental (as in no words) surf song that was one of my absolute favorites but they didn't mention the artist or song. It wasn't until years later that I found out that it was called "Walk, Don't Run" by The Ventures.

Yes. I can't stand that.

I was just complaining about that yesterday. It's also annoying when they don't mention the name of a song that you don't know. I think every radio station should make it a policy after every five songs or so to name the artists, and songs.

Angry re: "mystery" songs

That is one of my biggest pet peeves, when they won't say what the song is!! Like that cool "I love you, always forever, near and far, closer together", by...what was her name, Donna....Lewis, I heard her name was? I liked that song when I first heard her play it on 90210, but I never remembered the name, and when I started hearing it on the radio and in shopping malls, etc., they never said the name of it....

SAY THE STINKIN' NAME AND ARTIST, 'CAUSE THAT WAY, WE MIGHT BE INTERESTED TO BUY THE ALBUM!!!!

Ahhh, that drives me crazy!!!! I always want to know the name so I can download it or buy the CD. LOL I'm always trying to identify the voice or find words that could be the name of the song.

A new station just started here in New York and they sometimes have a recorded voice saying the title and artist of a song as it starts.
I read somehere a lot of stations will be doing this in the future, so listeners (like myself) will know the name of that friggin song we like but God forbid the @#$$@&! Deejays will tell us!

That's what I don't like about KFNK (Funky Monkey) in Tacoma (Fife, actually), they'll have a pre-recorded voice that tells you the name of the song, but there are no actual DJ's to hear your requests or complains (as far as I know). But they'll play your voice as you're acting like a foul-mouthed (bleeped out) goob. They don't want constant DJ's, because they don't want to clog the airwaves with talk and BS. But it WOULD be nice to have a little interaction with someone on the air. Because they don't record song title announcements all the time.

Sad re: DJ-less radio

I think this is automated radio we're talking about. Pre-recorded playlists, pre-picked "hits", no free-form, no listener requests, musical experimentation stifled.
