Default Newer vs. Older?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of newer sitcoms vs. older ones. As for recent ones, i see less and less good tv (my opinion). For someone in his mid-20s, i prefer and favor older sitcoms such as The Honeymooners, MTM, Lucy, Dick Van Dyke etc. The general feeling i get from these boards (most boards) is that the viewers are younger (mid-teens - just a feeling i get). with exception for the 50s/60s boards it seems that there is a large audience "discovering", primarily, 80s sitcoms for the first time and are fans of 90s television (not taking any shots, but just a generalization on what i feel from what i've read) There are people on these boards who really know their stuff too.

Being in my mid-20s like i said, i can't stand 90s tv, watch most 80s sitcoms b/c i grew up with them, same for the 70s (reruns mostly), 50s/60s grew up with them b/c of my parents as well as old movies and generally find those classic sitcoms much, much funnier and more diverse than sitcoms from my generation.

Just want to see what people generally think of sitcoms of today: lets's say 80s and on - versus - sitcoms of yesterday (pre 80s). Just curious to see how i fit in with my generation on this topic.
In my opinion, much more classic tv pre-80s (tons of classic tv) than today (once-in-a-blue-moon a classic comes along).

I'm 18 and I def. prefer older sitcoms to newer sitcoms. I do like a couple of dramas from now, but no sitcoms. They just aren't that funny to me. jmo

I love almost anything and everything that is related to Classic Television. My favorite network is TV Land. You will find once in a blue moon watching sitcoms of today's age. I definitely prefer the classics over the modern "junk".

I like some modern sitcoms, but they rely far too much on sex jokes and cussing. I don't mind any of that, but I don't like it all the time.

Older sitcoms were funny and successful without that stuff. I've always preferred them overall.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but the older sitcoms seem better crafted to me. "Leave it to Beaver," "The Honeymooners," "Car 54 Where Are You?" "Dobie Gillis," "Sergeant Bilko," "Father Knows Best," didn't just try to go for the quick, easy laugh, like most of the sitcoms today do. Also, I don't think vulgar humor is usually funny. Racy, risque, or suggestive humor yes, but vulgar humor, no.

Well I'm only 19 and I to definatly prefer the older sitcoms over that modern junk, the only modern shows I ever liked are Home Improvement and 8 Simple Rules, other than that I like shows such as Three's Company, All in the Family, Gilligan's Island and a few others.

I like the older sitcoms...... I don't like the cussing of the newer sitcoms it turns me off. (Theres no need for it but, if people like that than they could look at it).

As for me, I do like Everybody loves Raymond and The George Lopez show plus anything forensic.

I'm 21, and for the most part I like shows from the 50's thru 70's. I like only a few from the eighties. About ten from the 90's (NewsRadio, my all-time favorite show was in the 90's). As for today, I love "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," but I think it's been cancelled. I'm not a big fan of current TV. One show might come along I'll watch, but for the most part, I just stick the Oldies but Goodies.
