I personally don't think sitcoms without a real ending should be in syndication because it doesn't lead up to anything. Shows like the Jeffersons and Sanford and Son has no real ending and should only be seen on DVD or VHS. On the other hand, shows like Three's Company, Happy Days, and the Cosby Show should be in syndication because the viewer is able to follow the show from start to a REAL finish. Anyone agree?

That really kind of puts something into perspective. A lot of my shows didn't have a true final ep. Imo, if a show was on for a lot of years, it deserves to be in syndication. If it's some one year wonder or something, show some eps during specials or something. It's just kind of crazy to have a show that ran for a year or two and it be shown every day, numerous times a day. jmo

I don't think a sitcom should be determined whether it should be in syndication if it didn't have a series finale, it's the enjoyment and laughs you get out of it. I Love Lucy didn't have a series finale, and made it in syndication, it was an instant success, because people liked it for what it was and what it did, and it was as popular as ever, and now it's being showed all around the world. It just goes to show, that all sitcoms don't need a series finale.

Take The Golden Girls as an example...
If the 2-part episode where Dorothy moved away wasnt in existence, but the other 178 were, why would it be bad for it to be in syndication? I would actually like that better, because I would know that the girls "still lived together". I don't think it should matter whether it had a series finale or not, I'm with dawsongirl on this one. |

The world will be missing out on some great sitcoms if they ever did this.

How do you know? Not that many classic TV shows are out on DVD right now, and part of the reason they ARE popular is because of syndication...

Well then add to that list cable stations... "The Golden Girls" is EXTREMELY popular because of a cable station. and many others go along with that.

That sounds a little silly for all shows to be in syndication. So even shows that were short-lived? If you were the Owner of N@N would you pick up a sitcom that only lasted two seasons? |
