Default Best explanation for Julio's exit off the show

I know there wasn't a real explanation for Julio's exit off the show but there was a statement by Julio in the episode when he merged his busniess with the Sanford busniess. Julio said that "running a junk business is rough, especially when it's a one man operation."

So since the merger didn't work, Julio eventually decided to leave the junk business and relocate to start a new life.

I think the reason Julio's character left the show is because the actor who played him "Gregory Sierra" was starring on another tv show at the time which was "Barney Miller".

That's prob. the one thing I hate about some tv shows. I can't tell you how many times a show I like has a character that leaves and they don't even bother to tell where the person went. Some things are rushed, I can understand that. The person might just up and leave one day and don't want to do any more eps.

The writers can still explain where the person went. Lamont could've came in the house and told Fred he can't do inventory next week because he promised he'd help Julio pack up his stuff and take it to ___________ (Insert a place). Okay, so maybe that isn't the best line they could've done, but they could've explained it in some way.

I just can't understand why they leave out details like that. Okay, if a character only appears once or twice and he disappears, it wouldn't be as bad. It's when a character is on a lot of eps and he disappears, that's whats bad. jmo

I know why his character left the show, i just posted a possible reason for Julio moving out of Watts. I already know that Gregory Sierra left Sanford and Son to star in Barney Miller. I think you misread the post.

Jenny what do you think of my explanation for Julio's disappearance? Julio saying the junk business is too much for one person is the best one I could come up with.

It sounds pretty good. It's the only possible thing, you know. If the character had died, that would've been big enough to have some sort of ep about. Your explanation is the only one possible.

Yeah i had to do some back tracking to come up with that explanation. Julio made that statement in his second to last appearance on the show.

I guess the producers figured no one would notice Julio's absence since he was only seen every once in a while.

Probably true. But he was a pretty popular character, so people DID notice his disappearance. I wonder why the producers didn't take that into account.

You're probably right, which just proves for the umpteenth time how clueless TV producers can be! Sierra was great in this show, a real highlight and for my money, the Julio eps were among the series' best.

I agree, it should have more More Julio Less Grady. And some situations when Julio, Rollo, and Lamont hung out

Hey Solomon, why does the same "quote" by you have two different names? One says TVresearcher, the other says sitcom analyzer.

I know, I remember you showing me your list before, but why does your screenname change in the quotes? I have never seen it do that?
