Default Thoughts On "The Bank Dick"

Just as I was hoping, that WAS a good episode!

While it had a well-constructed plot line, it also had a good number of funny one-liners.

I thought it was very funny when Fay was sitting on the lunchroom stool, talking about her relative who used to drink too much and throw up....and while she's telling the story, she has this sweet, nostalgic "Oh, those were the good old days" look on her face and a big smile.....and while she's talking about her relative getting sick, poor Roy is sitting at the counter, TRYING to eat his lunch and looking more nauseous by the second.

I also loved the Joe-Helen exchange when Helen wanted to be the one to go to the ball game instead of Joe's date....and she suddenly grabbed Joe by the front of his shirt and pulled him down to her eye-level....Hilarious!

Yup, yet another "Wings" episode filled with great stuff!

I fell asleep about an hour before it came on but Ive seen it on my tape collection about 15 times this week ... ... as like you said it was a very good episode, from Joe and Helen, to Brian getting that job at the bank to repay the irs and whats with that hat at the beginning of the show Brian, lol

I thought this episode was really funny!!!! Even though I kinda felt bad for Joe at the end, I didn't feel TOO bad, because he really deserved that for not taking Helen to the game. Although Joe is usually such a nice guy, he does have his moments of being unbearable. Whatever happened to "We're still best friends, Helen"?

And I don't know if it was the tan or the orange shirt (probably both), but when Brian realized the guy on the plane was the robber and his eyes widened...wow!!! He certainly has BLUE eyes, doesn't he?!?! Like a dark, ocean blue.

Back to the episode. As usual, I really liked the Joe/Brian interaction here. I completely understood where Joe was coming from. He's so frustrated that Brian never does the "responsible" thing, and that in the end, he always has to jump in and help Brian out. No wonder Joe's always so stressed out, he has to worry about himself and his brother all the time, even though he's TRYING not to worry about Brian. I don't think he can help it though. And Brian doesn't understand why Joe is so uptight all the time. I don't think he thinks there are no consequences for his actions, but I think he thinks you have to take the chance. And even if there are consequences, the fun is sometimes worth it.

I thought Brian looked so funny in his security guard costume. It didn't fit him right, did it? The pants were too short and the shirt was too big. He kinda looked like a woman in it.

Hear, hear! I mean, in "Ladies Who Lunch" he gave that speech about Helen & Gail being the two most important women in his life.

But I guess I kind of understand, too -- I mean, when Helen came back from New York all she could think about was how *she'd* been mistreated by Joe... Joe was the jerk & she was totally innocent. As far as I know, Joe never did get his well-deserved whine about how badly Helen treated him.

So I think whereas Helen throws temper tantrums about things, Joe does more subtle things to "get back" at Helen.

Love,

Wing<><

I haven't seen all the episodes, so I never saw their break-up. I'm still not sure what happened, because either Nick at Nite skipped an episode or somehow I missed it. But one moment they were together and the next episode I saw, Helen was furious with Joe for dumping her.

She decided to leave Nantucket behind to make a go at her music career and ended up not telling anyone that she was waiting tables at a strip club in NY.

Joe wanted her out of there & talked her into moving back to Nantucket to be around people who cared for her. She thought she could pick up with Joe where she left off.

Right - what C5Guy said. He told her that he loved her on the tarmac, to try to get her not to leave, and then she said she loved him too, but then she left anyway.

Gosh, are there spoiler rules here? Well, spoiler warning for The Naked Truth.

He didn't even know how to get in touch with her for 10 (count'em TEN) months. Then she called him out of the blue and hinted around about the status of their relationship. He had started dating Gail a few months before that. So he didn't want to tell Helen about Gail on the phone. He went to NY to tell her in person. When he got there she claimed she was happy, but she finally broke down & admitted she was miserable. Brian & Joe said she should come back. So she assumed Joe wanted her back, too. He couldn't tell her about Gail then because he knew she'd be too proud & refuse to come home. But when they got back to Nantucket, Gail happened to show up & kiss Joe right in front of Helen.

So... I can see where Helen has the right to be angry... but Joe has plenty right to be angry too, IMO.

Love,

Wing<><

haha! yeah, that was the best part! lol.
I thought Joe was being kind of a jerk when he was all explaining the level 1 and level 2 thing. I'm glad Helen kind of put him in his place. hehe

holy crap! a guy with gorgeous blue eyes, and I didn't even notice??!!! wow. It must have been the Krista's-almost-a-zombie-at-1:00AM thing. I gotta watch that again on my tape, and pay attention to Brian's eyes. hehe.

This was a really good episode. When I was getting my sister into this show, this is one of the episodes I showed her. For Antonio fans, this was his last episode of the season. There are two more left, and he's in Italy so we don't see him.

Bank Robber: "You're gonna be sittin' in butter."

Lowell: "Joe, could you get me a soda?"

(Thump)

Lowell: "Doesn't it hurt when you do that with your head?"

I finally watched the whole "The Bank Dick." Earlier I was on Joe's side about the tickets, but I think he deserved what he got for that Nancy-knows-first-base-from-third-base comment.
Yeah, I'm a prude. Sue me. :-)

I don't think I'd ever seen that ep before!! It was funny. Yeah, the guard uniform shirt was too big, & the pants were too short.
But he was soooo cute on the motorcycle.

I gotta re-program my vcr since 2 eps come on tonight...

and I'm in the chat room aww awone right now.

Love,
