I'm surprised no one mentioned it:
ANGELA LANSBURY REPRISES HER ROLE AS JESSICA FLETCHER IN "MURDER, SHE WROTE: THE CELTIC RIDDLE," A NEW TELEVISION MOVIE TO BE BROADCAST ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK, FRIDAY, MAY 9 Fionnula Flanagan Also Stars MURDER, SHE WROTE: THE CELTIC RIDDLE, a new television movie starring multiple Tony and Golden Globe Award winner Angela Lansbury, who reprises her role as Jessica Fletcher from the long-running CBS series "Murder, She Wrote," will be broadcast Friday, May 9 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Fionnula Flanagan ("Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood") also stars. In the fourth new television movie under the "Murder, She Wrote" banner, Jessica journeys to Ireland for the reading of a will that subsequently spawns multiple murders. Jessica is invited to attend the reading of Eamon Byrne's (Peter Donat) will and discovers that he has left her a small cottage on his property, much to the chagrin of his immediate heirs. Jessica later reveals to his daughter, Breeta (Sarah-Jane Potts), that many years before Jessica gave a second chance to Eamon when he was desperately in need of one. Eamon has also allocated envelopes containing a clue to each person at the reading -- except John Herlihy (Sean Lawlor), the family handyman -- which he claims, when shared among them, will lead to a hidden treasure of great value. However, they will all have to put aside their bickering and differences and work together in order for the cache to be found. Herlihy, who coincidentally received the largest cash inheritance, is the first of the group to be murdered and Jessica theorizes with the police about how he died. Next to go is Michael Davis (Joe Michael Burke), the family gardener, who is stabbed by an unknown assailant. The family housekeeper, Nora Flood (Lynn Wanless), is also murdered. The finger of guilt points in many directions and while she tries to sort it out before anyone else is killed, Jessica must also try to solve the mystery of a "lost boy" who is often referred to and who may hold the secret to the crimes. Fionnula Flanagan stars as Eamon's widow, Margaret. Angela Lansbury’s professional career spans more than a half-century. In addition to "Murder, She Wrote," the longest-running detective drama series in the history of television (1984- 96), she starred in "Mrs. Santa Claus," an original television musical, which was the third highest-rated made for television movie for the 1996-97 season, "Murder She Wrote: South By Southwest," "Murder She Wrote: A Story to Die For" and "The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax," all on the Network. Her feature film credits include "Gaslight," "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "The Manchurian Candidate," all of which earned her Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress, and the Disney animated feature "Beauty and the Beast." Her numerous Broadway credits include "Mame," "Dear World," "Gypsy" and "Sweeney Todd," for which she won an unprecedented four Tony Awards. Fionnula Flanagan’s television credits include the movies "For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story," "A Secret Affair," "919 Fifth Avenue," "White Mile" and "Columbo: Murder, A Self Portrait." Her feature film credits include "The Others," "With or Without You," "Paperlily," "Waking Ned Devine," "Mad at the Moon," "P.K. and the Kid," "Reflections" and "Mary White." MURDER, SHE WROTE: THE CELTIC RIDDLE was produced by Corymore Productions in association with Universal Network Television. Charles F. Engel is the executive producer; Anthony Shaw is the supervising producer/director. Rosemary Anne Sisson wrote the script from a story by Bruce Lansbury and herself that is based on the novel, The Celtic Riddle, by Lyn Hamilton. |

Murder She Wrote was, during its original run, and now, in reruns, one of my all-time favorite shows. In addition to the novels, I still have the rare Clue-like board game based on the show. I was wondering when this film would finally air and am glad that it shall be soon. I hope that CBS does not wait as long a period before the next telefilm.

I loved the show because with the exception of the murder committed, Jessica used her brains and wisdom instead of guns or accusing people and firmly but gently had the right man/woman arrested to pay for their crimes. She is like Colombo but a female version.

Aww...too bad. Anyone see her in Blackwater Lightship in January? She gave an outstanding performance in that...
Anyway, anyone know if Celtic Riddle will re-play on A&E or CBS anytime soon? The only one of the movies I've seen was the South by Southwest one, which was cool. What are the other movies? |
