Sad re: swapping

I don't get this. I just got Kazaa Lite and I have downloaded a few songs and music videos to view and listen to. I haven't really done it all that much this week. Is this the infamous "swapping" they're talking about?

Cool

Big news, they dont know who you are. They are trying to frighten people into stopping what they are doing. To track you down they need a court order and blah blah blah and maybe one day they will start doing this ..... but it's easier to scare people into flipping off their file sharing.
If they jump you, and you're feeling saucy, tell em to cram it 5 ways and quit harassing you. If not, just thank them for their time <G>

I agree. I don't get what the whole 'hoolpa' is with downloading songs off the internet. What about recording songs on cassettes off the radio? You don't pay for that. Actually you have to have a computer and internet access to even do that. That's a lot more expensive than having a stereo with a few blank cassettes.

This is a story of the rich bitching about not getting richer. Until I'm screwed out of money, I'll do whatever the hell I want.

LOL, well, ill be honest here, I have dowloaded a ton of music in my life, most of it i already own on vinyl. The belt in my record player broke years ago and i really dont have ANY 8 tracks that are that good. <G>
I very rarely download songs that were made in the last 15 years but the other night i did download matchbox 20. i did not know they had a new album, i dont keep up with new anything really, but they are one of the only "new" bands in the last 10 yrs. ive enjoyed listening to.
After downloading their music last night, I think i will go out and spend $12 or whatever the albumn cost. I told myself id never pay for music again - mainly cause i dont listen to it much, but i do seriously believe in rewarding cool sh*t.

anybody read the article at theonion.com about kid rock starving to death and dying because of file sharing? im sure its easily found in the archives. Now if it would only really happen.

Hmmm. That's interesting, because last year, I accidentally taped a song off the radio onto a cassette without benefit of the computer or the Internet. How would you do it with a computer anyway?

If technology can't keep up with it self then too bad. Rules and regulations have never worked based on 'the honor system'. Until, if ever, they can figure out a way to keep people from being able to dowload music they may as well stop whining about it. No one but the ones on the supposed losing end cares. And what Prankster said is interesting. There was no way to track recording off the radio or recorcing from someone elses cassette so we didn't hear much whining about that. Although so called pirates were sometimes busted for selling recordings. But that's not the same as recorcing for yourself. That doesn't take into account that millions of people recorded for themselves. So, what's the difference between the pirates recording and the individuals recording? The pirates take it to the street? If you can't uphold a law then why bother making it in the first place?
