Default First Season Discussion

What does everyone here think about the 1st season of "NewsRadio"? I'm one who thinks it's probably the best season of the show. If only it ran for more than seven episodes. I loved Matthew's "Buttafuoco" joke. Also, when Matthew got mad and grabbed a tissue and rolled it up and threw it on Dave's desk. Dave then picked it up and said "I don't know if Mr. James is the kind of man who tolerates this kind of violent outburst."

Rate each episode with Five being the best and One being the worst.
01. Pilot (****) - This was a very funny episode. It did a nice job introducing all the characters, except Joe and Khandi's Catherine which both come in the next episode. The Dave-Lisa begins. All in all a good episode. But the lack of Joe, gets a point taken off.

02. Innappropriate (*****) - A great episode. This was a great Matthew episode with the whole Buttufuoco plot. I liked how Beth was the only one in the office to know about Dave and Lisa. Plus, it's the introduction to Joe.

03. Smoking (*****) - Quite possibly the best episode of the entire series and it came so early in it's run. I'm a big fan of the Dave-Bill relationship, and this episode really focused on it. It's a true classic episode of NewsRadio.

04. The Crisis (***) - It was good. But not one of the best episodes of the show. Matthew's fake fighting was funny. And at this point it looked as if Dave and Matthew were going to be friends, but that didn't really play out. By the end of the show, Dave couldn't stand Matthew.

05. Big Day (****) - Funny episode. A nice half-hour of television. It would have been nice to have the Big Bonus/Shaft return every season, but oh well. It lacks something, so a point was taken off.

06. Luncheon at the Waldorf (*****) - In my opinion the second classic episode of NewsRadio. Funny all around.

07. Sweeps Week (*****) - This, Smoking, and Luncheon at the Waldorf are my three favorite episodes of the first season. Tom P. Baxter or Tom the Visionary as Bill refers to him was funny. Even if I never see the show again, I'll always remember that Tom's vision for the future is ... Computers. They're like magic.

Okay, so what is everyone else's comments and thoughts on Season one of NewsRadio?

My ratings are as follows:

Pilot: 3. There wasn't enough Bill in the first one, but the couple scenes he was in were good.

Inappropriate: 4.

Smoking: 6. This episode is one of the best by far.

The Crisis: 4. I liked the whole desk issue. Especially when Dave would say that the issue wasn't about the desk, and Bill would say "Yes it is."

Big Day: 4.

Luncheon at the Waldorf: 6. I love this episode, too. Mostly because it proved how cool Bill was by not putting the moves on Beth. Instead, she did it to him. Although I must say that in my opinion Beth's decision to kiss Bill was one of the smartest decisions any of the NR women every made. I mean, why was Lisa "doing it" with Dave when she could have been "doing it" with Bill? The world may never know.

Sweeps Week: 3. My problem with this episode is Janeane Gorafalo (sp?). I don't know why, but she gives me the creeps.

alrighty, i am very bored, so i am going to go through and rate all these season one episodes! enjoy..

1. Pilot [****] - I loved this episode, it was soo funny. I loved how Dave wanted to be early so badly, but then ended up being really late, he was so cute and nervous. i loved it. i loved the little scene between dave and lisa, the start of a beautiful relationship, haha. i agree with TVAdam, with the lack of Joe and Catherine it just wasnt pefection, but that was corrected, so its all good.

2. Innappropriate [*****] - This is my all time favourite episode. first off with matthew's Buttufuoco mispronunciation, that was halarious.. oh my goodness.. it had me laughing so hard..then with dave and lisa, everything about them made me laugh so hard i think i was crying, i still laugh at the same parts every time i watch it.. even thinking about it makes me laugh. oh my. and then beth's interpretation of what dave and lisa were in a past life. who comes up with this stuff! its soo funny. *laughing to myself* then at the end with bill and catherine. first bill wont leave her alone, he keeps staring at her, so joe says to switch seats.. best ever.. and then when dave tells them to shut up bill gets all offended, i cant believe how funny this is. its just so great. 'you know how those office relationships go' haha..the irony. grade a material. deserves infinity out of 5!

3. Smoking [***] - This episode was really great, i enjoyed how bill and dave became friends.. who knew someone could become that addicted to coffee. then lisa being worried about joe seeing her and dave, and joe being worried lisa would think he was gay.. this stuff is great. just amazing. another thumbs up!

4. The Crisis [***] - This episode was pretty good. Matthew was really funny. i loved the whole desk fiasco! and the subject of who was Dave's favourite -> having dinners. very funny!

5. Big Day [****] - This episode was really great. especially when everyone was talking about the Big Day and Dave didnt know anything about it, and Lisa just watched him make a fool of himself. and then with bill and everything being placed on his desk, that was halarious! good times, good times.

06. Luncheon at the Waldorf [***] - This episode was really good. the confusion between bill and beth was really funny. i liked how lisa and beth were friends. not much to say about this episode... i havent watched it in a while. whole topic about the budget was also really funny. (almost forgot about that!)

07. Sweeps Week [****] - HOLY FUNNY EPISODE..Bill was so funny with Tom P. Baxter or Tom the Visionary as TVAdam said-> Computers. They're like magic... i will never forget that. AND THEN with nancy.. that was soo funny, luckily nobody believed her about 'the famous bickersons' otherwise the secret would be out.. very funny... and a plain donut for lisa...

okay well i think thats about it.. im still laughing to myself about everything.. haha. okay have fun reading this...ahh boredom.. its a wonderful thing.
