Question Still the Beaver "Movie"

I've heard of the movie "Still the Beaver" that led to the series the "The New Leave it to Beaver", but I have never seen it. What happened in the movie and how can I see it?

This was a great movie for fans of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER. It opens on a really sad note -- Ward's funeral. We see Wally and Beaver walking with June away from Ward's gravesite. Then Beaver, who is either separated or recently divorced, and his two young children move back in with June and Beaver begins coping with being a single parent. What's great is that most of the original actors, except for the late Hugh Beaumont, return. And you don't want to miss the scene where Wally finally gets fed up with Eddie, who's a contractor watering down his concrete, and actually punches him. Of course as always, they end up best of friends at the end. This movie is hard to find but worth it.

I want to see this movie! Why is it so hard to find? Why doesn't a channel show it? It would be really great if tvland acquired the rights to the movie and the series to go with it!

Well, "Still the Beaver" was a made-for-tv movie that aired on CBS in 1983. I doubt that Blockbuster, or any other movie place would have it on hand. I'd love to see it too, and the series that came out after the movie, but no one seems to have copies of the movie or the new series on tape. We could write TV Land about airing the movie and the show. Maybe we can hope for an airing when LITB has it's 50th anniversary in 2007. Wow, can you believe that??

Whoa! 50th anniversary in 2007? That's cool, but it seems odd too. Not odd in a bad way, but it just doesn't seem like it's been 50 years.

I am really interested in seeing that movie! If its so hard to find, where did Doug get it?? Just wondering~! Well, I say anyone who really wants to see it should e-mail TV land. Maybe with enough e-mails, they'll show it again.

Well, I didn't say it was totally impossible to get the movie, you just couldn't find it at a video rental place. It is pretty difficult to find, as Doug stated: "This movie is hard to find but worth it." I'd like to get my hands on it as well, but where to ask??

This probably doesn't help, because "The New Leave it to Beaver" isn't currently rerun anywhere, but the original CBS "Still the Beaver" TV-movie was cut up into four parts and included in the "New Leave it to Beaver" syndication package. It stands out from the other episodes because the opening is different, and Corey Feldman plays Beaver's oldest son.
