"In the Soup", which I guess is the favorite episode of most LITB fans. My niece (age 7) likes the one in which Larry hides out in Beaver's room. She has watched every episode I've taped for her about twenty times.

My favorite episode is the one where
Richard is caught by police breaking the window of the old house and gives Beaver's name to the cops. |

When Larry and Beaver smoke the pipe. I also like the one where Miss Landers comes to dinner.

I have two - the one where Wally buys a '36 Ford coupe for $15 (!!!). He ends up making money on it by selling it piece-by-piece :^(
Also the one where Wally and Eddie terrorize Lumpy's car in a prank - they were way ahead of American Graffiti. I'm kind of a car nut in addition to being a fan of Wally and the Beav, so seeing all those old classics when they were new(er) is an added pleasure. Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit. Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit. Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger. [Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter] |

I liked the episode where Beaver's old friend from the old neighborhood visited, and they found they didn't like playing the same games anymore and realized they weren't as close. It was a sad but true-to-life story which was a case of acknowledging that boys do grow up and they move on from their childhood.Ward did tell Beaver that he would never find as much pleasure as he used to by swinging in tires or holloring down a drainpipe.
My favorite episode of the last season was when Beaver had to do a book report but could not get through the book.Gilbert(who was the same sort of,"friend,"to Beaver that Eddie was to Wally)told him to see a movie version on TV that night.Beaver did the report from the movie, and it was so different that he was caught right away.("I didn't know teachers watched television.") ------------------ Richard Ranke |

I have two! The first one is the "Captin Jack" episode. The second one is during the last season when Beaver joined the record club. I noticed that they played that little piece of music often during the last season of the series.

I like the episode where Beaver keeps losing his money and when Ward gives him money to get a haircut he loses the money and has Wally give him one! That was hilarious!!!

I have 3--so far. 2 deal with serious themes, giving the lie to many hipsters' putdowns of 50's sitcoms as taking place in never-never land. The 2 I'm referring to are the one with Andy the recovering alcoholic housepainter, and the one the other day with Chopper the son of divorced parents. Both episodes handle sensitive topics straightforwardly but with laughs arising from the mistakes kids innocently make, and showcase the show's sharp awareness of kids' minds through especially good writing. The 3rd episode is The Sweater, when Wally's classmate Frances wheedles his letterman's sweater from him for a short period. Almost everyone gets some great character-revealing lines in this episode.
Oh, I also like the one when Beave gets Mom the oil-well patterned blouse. His crestfallen face is wonderful! Are there any other surprisingly serious-themed episodes like the first 2 I mentioned? |
