LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fresh off the success of Fox Searchlight's "Bend It Like Beckham," Parminder Nagra will trade her soccer kit for medical scrubs, joining the cast of NBC's long-running hit "ER."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nagra will join the series next season as a regular, playing a new medical student.

The Leicester, England-born actress of Indian decent is currently onscreen in "Beckham," playing a young girl whose infatuation with soccer and Manchester United star David Beckham disappoints her traditional family. Through this weekend, the sleeper hit has grossed $9.1 million in the United States, with further expansions planned.

Nagra has also appeared in the British series "A&E" and will appear with Anne Hathaway and Cary Elwes in the upcoming Miramax release "Ella Enchanted."
