I am compairing these two shows, because at one point they were both on at the cusious Thursday night 8: 30 pm et right after the Cosby show. Which show do you like better? For me, they were both great shows. Better then most of the crap show NBC has put on at the timeslot.

I've never seen A Different World, so I would say Family Ties.

After Lisa Bonet left A different World, that show tanked IMO.
Family Ties all the way. |

Easy because the quality of actors and writers were no match.Step by step,Perfect strangers and F.Matters were produced for light fair entertainment Value not taxing on the brain.FTies had a cast that dealt with more serious manners then doing one joke episodes like the stephen erkel character. No offense to jaleel White but he was no match for Michael J.Fox.S.Erkel was a character to do jokes with.M.J.Fox had depth and humanity that was based on more realistic people. That is the only reason it was over all better quality show,

Well i like both shows and the truth is that they are very different shows and really cannot be compared. They are meant for different audiences and are different in style, tone and focus. They are both good.

Just like factsoflife stated, these are two VERY different shows so you really can't compared the two. I like both shows for different reasons and I still watch both shows eventhough I have seen all the episodes before.

Family Ties by a long shot!
I liked a Different World but ONLY when Lisa Bonet was on it and even then it wasn't anything special. After she left it stank really bad. |
