Talking My thoughts on the E! True Story....

Overall...it was well done. I can't believe they interviewed Nell in 2002 (recently). Maybe there were plans of doing the E! True Story even before she died?

I am glad the three girls were interviewed. Telma was interviewed too.

I am very glad they used the theme song. They used it to introduce the (GIMME A BREAK) slogan for the E! True Story which was clever to do. They used the first season theme and the 5th-6th season theme. I am glad they did that. It was nice to hear the first and final versions of the theme.

No mention of characters like (Uncle Ed, Maxine, Grandpa, Simpson, Mama Maybelle or Marty though). This is what they needed to add which wasn't there. They should have notified the viewers what years Grandpa, Simpson and Mama Maybelle passed away.

I learned interesting things that I never knew. One interesting thing was that at the wrap-up party of the 6th season, the cast knew then that they were cancelled, and Nell was in an emotional sadness.

Kari was happy to be fired from the show, yet Lauri was mad because she jsut bought her own house and needed money. Lara Jill, although being on the show a few times in the final year, was also fired just as were the other two girls.

Time slots did hurt the show, as well as the Cosby Show, which was a show about a high class family.

Overall I was happy with what they did. Although they needed to mention the other characters I mentioned above. They also didn't talk about the LIVE EPISODE they aired in 1985.

Gimme A Break went into Syndication just prior to the shows cancellation, which is strange. I always thought it went into syndication like earlier on, since they kept showing re-runs. Is this the same thing as what syndication is, or is it when they show it on a whole different network rather than the netowork it originally aired on, since the show did have re-runs on NBC throught it's first few years.

I think this will give Gimme A Break the comeback it needs!

Also, I learned that Nell was with Dolf when he passed away, Lauri Hendler was the only one who didn't cry, only until the first episode of the 5th season was finished being taped, and how Nell and Rosie were always in rivalry, since Nell called her by "Maggie" and not "Rosie" since Nell said that to make things work faster ont he set with the kids, it would be better to call everyone by their first name on the show.

As much as I like Rosie and Nell, I've always had to roll my eyes over that one.

I thought it seemed a bit rushed, but I prefer the 1 hour Hollywood Stories over the 2 hours, because then it's drawn out.

I really think this show needs to come back. Watching this just made me miss it even more.

It was well done. Better than I expected. Tasteful too, surprisingly, since the THS usually focus on the tawrdy behind the scenes crap.

I thought it was O.K.Better then nothing at all.Seemed to me most of the focus was on Nell, more then the show gimmie a break.

They Should have done a gimmie a break version, and also a Nell Carter version.
Overall I was glad to see it though, better then seeing nothing.

I wish they could have added about Uncle Ed, and grandpa cause they were always funny
and they should have mentioned officer Simpson

Another thing....I didn't know that the 3 girls got fired, was that true? After they were fired, did they ever come back as guests? or even rehired?

Only Lara Jill. She appeared in 7 episodes for the last season and was also featured in the opening credits theme. Kari, Lauri and Howard along with Jonathan were in the first two episodes of that season.
