Why must Hallmark colorize their shows?! ( sitcoms to be exact) Do they strongly favor colorized episodes of TV shows that were suppose to be in BW?!
THANKS!!!!!

The attention span of the average viewer is more attracted to color than the old b&w.

Dynacs Digital Studios starting colorizing the B&W episodes of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie about 5 years ago, and they began to showing them in Canada. So Hallmark decided to start airing the first season of I Dream of Jeannie in color, and then the first two seasons of Bewitched in color.
It's obvious that Hallmark likes I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched in color. However, the quality of converting B&W to color is poor and sometimes they are not as detailed or accurate. |

Consistencey, I believe that if a show is in both b&w & color, then the b&w should air colorized. Colorization gets a bad wrap, but I don't mind it at all. If colorization helps the show reach a broader audience, i'm all for it.
Many of those old shows would've been in color if the option was available back then. It's not like it was b&w to make an "artistic" statement. I for one watched the colorized episodes of Zorro on Disney Channel & thought they were terriffic! Disney channel would alternate between the b/w & colorized prints--that's one option other channels can consider. |
