Default How long did it take for you to notce that Judy was no longer on the show?

To be honest, i never realized Judy was no longer on the show because she was not used that often and didn't really have a lot of lines. So it never stood out she was gone. I think the producers felt that since she had such a small role that no none would notice she was gone. This question is only for someone who watched Family Matters during the start of the 1993-94 season, how long did it take you to realize Judy was gone?

I dunno but I hardly ever noticed her in episodes. Even though I always watched the show, I do not think the word Judy was hardly ever heard by my two nice ears.

When she stopped appearing in the credits, I figured it out.

That's the same thing I said. I wouldn't have noticed Judy missing either. Judy being removed was news to me because I started college in the fall of 93 and no longer was interested in Family Matters. I didn't find out until 1999 when the show ended.

I watched Family Matters every Friday night from 1989 to 1998, and I noticed that both Judy and Rachel were both missing from the credits when I watched the season premire in the fall of 1993. But you will notice in the season prior to that, season 4, Judy only appears in a handful of episodes. Rachel also only appears in certain episodes in season 4 and she is only in the credits of the episodes she's in.

I notice immediately that she was missing! One because she was hardly use and that kind of bothered me because they kept adding new characters but never fully developed her! Now was was Richie kept when his mother wasn't on the show!!??? The Richie character knocked her out IMO! If I were in charge of that show I would have made Judy a little smart aleck sidekick to Urkel where she would help him just enough not to get her hands dirty and be a little bit of a snitch in a coy manner!

Waldo and Maxine can go to Bellevue Mental Ward!!!

If I noticed anything, it would have been Jaimee Foxworth's absence from the opening credits.

Because I was only 6 or 7 in the early 90's I never really thought Judy was gone, I always thought Myra was Judy but as I got older I thought Judy wouldn't fall in love with Urkle. Then me and my sister watched the reruns around the 6th season and I saw Judy in the credits and then I watched the new episode that night and I asked my sister what happened to her and she said she didn't know so I was very confused! LOL

I noticed it immediately. It bugged me, because I liked her character, and didn't understand why she wasn't given a larger role. Seems like her disappearance was similar to the first Morgan on Boy Meets World (except that Judy wasn't replaced by another actress, of course) - one week she's part of the family - the next she's gone - an no one knows why...

From the opening credits, it was kind of hard NOT to notice.

Once you think about it, it was kind of odd that they gave Judy such a small roll, got rid of her, and then added so many other characters.

I think if Steve was never added to the show, Judy might have never left. Recall that Steve wasn't in the first several episodes, and the first time he was ever on the show was just supposed to be a one time thing. But Jaleel White did such a great job playing a nerd who was helplessly in love with Laura that they kept asking him to come back to do episodes, eventually making him a full time cast member.

(I don't think Steve was originally a next door neighbor of the Winslow's either.)

The writers could have added more depth to Judy's character but they never even tried. She never had a chance. How can you possibly add depth to a character that has only a couple speaking lines per episode?

The producers probably figured no one would notice since she didn;t have that many speaking parts. I didn;t know notice-LOL

I didn't notice for a long time either. When the show was originally on ABC I never really saw her, when I started watching the show in reruns I saw her there but I didn't know who she was. I thought that she was Rachel's daughter at first since she would be with Richie sometimes. Then in the second episode I heard Harriet mention her three kids-Eddie,Laura, and Judy. At that point I was very confused, so I went on the internet and read about her character. Apparantly what happened, according to the producer of the show, it was a budget concern, they didn't want to pay her when her character was never on the show. So they got rid of her.
