Carson's Boyhood Home to be Auctioned - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

NORFOLK, Neb. - Johnny Carson's childhood home will be for sale on the Internet auction site eBay starting Monday.

"I hope it's like a rookie card," said Jim Pruett, one of two men who bought the house where the former host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" lived.

Pruett, of Brandon, S.D., and Rick Runge of Sioux Falls, S.D., bought the house for $150,000 in March and have been restoring it to the way it looked in the 1940s.

They hope to have all renovation work completed by this weekend. The exterior of the four-bedroom house, which was built in 1920, also has been painted.

Pruett hopes there's more interest in the house on eBay than there's been for bits of the home's original plaster and flooring they've already been trying to sell on the Internet site.

"We paid some money for the Johnny Carson name," Pruett said. "I can't imagine going into this and not making money."

If the house doesn't sell, they say the city should buy it for a Carson museum.

"That place would be packed all the time," Pruett said.

However, city officials haven't expressed interest in buying the house, and they're apparently not the only ones lukewarm to the project. Pruett said Carson hasn't responded to a request for information about the home's original furnishings.

Well I live here in Nebraska, and they never mentioned his house being autioned off, some people did buy his house and the are remodling it, I could be wrong, but they haven't said anything on the news about it, and living in Nebraska that would make news.
