ABC Wants Roseanne Show About ABC Family Roseanne Show - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - In an age where a movie about writing a movie can be nominated for Oscars and people buy DVDs for the behind-the-scenes extras, it seems to make sense that a TV network would make a TV series about making a TV series.

That's exactly what ABC is doing in partnership with Roseanne Barr, who will star in a hybrid variety-cooking show on ABC Family and allow ABC cameras to follow her as she puts the show together.

"This deal represents the best type of synergy -- the kind that comes about simply because it makes the most sense for everyone involved," says Susan Lyne, president of ABC Entertainment.

It will work like this: Barr, who's re-adopted her last name, will let camera crews follow her as she works on an ABC Family series called "The Domestic Goddess Hour." The untitled unscripted show, scheduled to air on ABC this summer, will follow her as she works with network executives and crew members to develop the show, as well as in her personal life.

(In a moment even more meta than those described above, Barr's camera crew apparently ran into a crew from "The Osbournes" at a Beverly Hills department store.)

Emmy-winning documentarian R.J. Cutler ("American High," "The War Room" ) is executive producing the ABC show with Barr.

"The Domestic Goddess Hour" will premiere in the fall on ABC Family. The series will be a combination cooking show/talk show, featuring famous chefs, other celebrity guests and live music.

I agree. If they put another Roseann show on tv I will not be watching. When I see re-runs of the last show, I wonder why did I ever watch??? All she did was belittle and bully her family and friends. Not enough acting--too much real Roseann.

Guess I scanned your message too quickly. Thought it said "say it aint so" there would be a new Roseann show. I see it did not .

Whatever, cablejockey, obviously you have no taste in good television, Roseanne was a great show. The fact that Roseanne was sometimes rude to her family made the show a success. Roseanne was though and never let anyone push her around.

He's entitled to hate the show. I personally love Roseanne, always have. That's the neat thing about this sitcom site, you can go to a sitcom catagory, and say your opinion about it, good or bad. As long as people are tasteful about it, they should be able to voice good or bad comments. It would be really bad if he went to a fan club site for Roseanne and bashed her, but this site is just to post comments about a particular sitcom. It's not a fan club site. But anyway, just trying to keep it fair for everyone

I really thought Roseanne was a genius in her shows and how she displayed the typical working class family. She did yell a lot, but you could tell her character really cared about her family. And the yelling I think was more for comedy, which always had me laughing
