that episode that just came on, where they are in the carolinas tryin to screw the time share people into a free golf games. and roy uses that wierd machine in that bathroom, maybe i'm just stupid, but what was that machine he was using?

It SOUNDED like some kind of vibrator, but we'll never know for sure....

That was one of those "Use Your Imagination" gags that "Wings" did so well!

They had a lot of good ones. Such an intelligent show. We need a lot more shows like Wings and less shows like Friends, IMHO.

Kind of off the subject here, this is to Snoopy. I'm just wondering why you despise Friends so much. Yes, I think NBC hypes it up quite a bit too much, but something must be working because it been on so long and still high in the ratings. Even now when, in my opinion, the episodes lately haven't been AS funny as in the past. All I know is this is one of the very few shows that I watch on a regular basis. That's saying alot because it takes me awhile to get used to a show. I didn't start watching 'Wings' until the episode Ladies who Lunch. I was just curious about Friends because you trash it pretty often.

One of the things I am in agreement with you is that the Simpsons rule!! Did you catch 'Inside the Actors Studio' on Bravo where they had the cast on? The real people cast, that is.

Anyhoo, back to Wings!!
As for Roy's 'device', in the words of David Schramm, he knows what it takes to get him to sleep!! Another part of that episode when Joe & Brian are sleeping in the same bed, whenever my sister & I have to share a bed, like when we're staying in a hotel, I say to her, So I guess cuddling is out of the question. Sad, but we do recite alot of show lines to each other. She's the only one I can do that with!!

I just never understood the appeal of Friends. I have watched it many times (My mom and little sister, plus various friends and college roommates all love it and have tried to convince me to watch.) and it has never struck me as funny at all. I find the characters to be pretty shallow, one-dimensional, and extremely annoying. They're certainly not people I'd want to be friends with, especially Ross, Monica, and Rachel. I think they rely far too much on sexual innuendo and potty humor (I hear it's gotten worse in recent seasons) plus the plots don't interest me one bit. (Who's sleeping with who? Who will this person choose for a lover?) As far as acting goes, I think Matthew Perry is the only one who really has potential. The rest, especially David Schwimmer, either over-act or "phone it in". It sorta bugs me to see Friends get so much hype when there are other shows, including Wings, NewsRadio, Scrubs, and Freaks & Geeks that had much better writing and acting, more likeable characters, and interesting plots. It seems you can't read or watch anything entertainment-related without hearing about the show or its cast members. I certainly wouldn't call Friends one of the worst shows that ever aired, but it is one of the most over-rated in my opinion. I respect the fact that a lot of people like it, but I have never and probably will never understand what's supposed to be so funny.

Snoopy, this will be the last time I write anything on this subject. I totally respect your opinion about Friends. As much as I like the show, I do have to agree with you that the writers made the characters shallow and one-dimensional. I wrote a few things on the TV Land board to you before about this. I absolutely cannot stand the way Fat Monica is portrayed and the way the other 'friends' treat her. In reality, a true friend would never make comments and judge you for the way you look. I should know, I've been struggling with my weight all my life, and if I had friends like that. Well, they wouldn't be my friends for long. There also another episode where the gang tells Chandler he's gained some weight. Would a 'true friend' even care about that in the real world? I know it's only a show but it just gets to me. I also already ranted on TV Land to you about the whole Ross & Rachel thing. It always seems like they have nothing better to do than hang out with each other ALL THE TIME, whether at Mon's apartment or Central Perk. How I wish I had all that time to hang out with my friends!! One of my best friends lives a mere 15 min. from me and I haven't seen her in months. Well, I am out of town alot and when I come home, I have things to do, so I don't get a chance. Gee, after all I wrote, everybody's probably wondering why I even watch this show. OK! OK! I've said quite enough on this so I'll quit. You won't hear another peep out of me on this again.

So now, how about that episode tonight? STUPIDHEAD!!!
I also liked when Antonio is narrating what he's writing in his journal and he says He's tired but if he stops writing in his journal, that would make Carlton think that Antonio is open to answer his questions. I think the funny part is when he says "I hate him". A part of the episode was cut out, too. When Antonio and the farmer return, Antonio says to Joe "joe, tell this man I'm not a terrorist. Seriously!! And of course, I always love the line Maybe it was Las Cruces!!

Not the whole cornfield scene, just the one line where Antonio mentions the terrorist thing.

I'm not sure if it has to do with being PC. On the episode where Joe & Brian put make-up on the 'dead' Coach Mattay, I had seen it in prime time, Brian makes the comment to Joe "Joe, it's scary how well you put make-up on", or something to that effect. Then when USA showed it, they cut that line out. Don't know why. I know when other channels rerun shows, they have to cut out some of the lines for time reasons.

OH, yeah, been catching up on my tape watching. I don't get to watch Wings every night like alot of you, and watched 'Bogey Men' today. I think that's what it's called. The SC trip episode. First, messed up by putting before that Brian said the line"What are they going to do, drive golf tees under our fingernails" when it was really Roy. But what I wanted to mention was Joe was LOOKING GOOD in his golf outfit with that green polo shirt and gloves. I always thought Tim Daly was hot anyway, but his outfit in that episode was something I certainly noticed. Roy's outfit, on the other hand!! One last thing, not to be technical, well, yes, I am being technical and I know it's only a show but there is NO lightening in a tropical storm! I've been living in Fla. long enough and dealt with a number of hurricanes and tropical storms(for anybody who doesn't know, a tropical storm is just a very weak hurricane) and in addition to no lightening, there is also no thunder. It's just alot of wind and rain, and I've seen a few shows try to do hurricanes, and they don't do them right. Maybe the whole point of Wings having lightening is that Roy was carrying 'metal' golf clubs. Actually, I do like Brian's line when Joe says'We have to do something' talking about getting Roy off the golf course, and Brian says 'I am, I'm trying to find Lowell's video camera'. Oh, and I STILL laughed at the part where Lowell was using Roy's device in the bathroom. Just the look on Joe & Brian's face.

If I remember that episode correctly Antonio appeared with Farmer Zeke behind him who was holding a shotgun to his back and said "Joe, would you please tell this man that I am not a terrorist." and later the farmer calls Antonio "Momar" (as in Momar Khadafi). They cut that part entirely out. I just thought it was in light of the recent war and the fact that we're not sure what's going to happen with Syria just yet.
