Question Macy's card

When I got my perfume, I paid with my card and then I was asked if I wanted to sign up for the Macy*s card. I - having a hard time saying no - said ok and signed up. Ok... what the hell is it and what do I do? All I know is that I saved 15% off my purchase... I should be getting my card in about 2 weeks. Is there an annual fee.. interest... how does it work? Thanks.

ugh...i hate those ppl. they always ask me and they never stop. it's like a credit card/gift card. you can only use it at macy's but you do have to pay monthly. my mom has ones for target and robinsons's may as well as macy's. i don't know the exact price but i think you get a 15% on every purchase (or maybe it's just the first purchase). they didn't give you an info sheet?

I don't know, but you probably shouldn't be saying yes to that stuff if you don't know what the whole deal is.

Well, she explained what it was, but her accent messed me up. It was some European one. All I heard was you save 15% off every order.. so oh well. I only go there to get my perfume anyways.

Well Ive asked around and basically I got that they send you the bill later if you use the Macy*s card. Diana told me not to use it though if I like went on a major shopping spree though because the interest is high. I should be getting it in a week or two, but I wanna get some sandals and makeup too this week... (and Im supposed to be saving up for a car )

Generally these days, credit cards have very high interest rates that make them hard to pay off - often 18% or more. We used to have usery laws to made it illegal to charge these interest rates, but when the inflation rate got very high during the Carter administration, many usery laws were repealed and credit card interest rates were raised greatly. Now inflation is very low, but the usery laws that prohibited interest rates this high haven't been reinstated. Generally, it's not a good idea to buy things at very high interest rates, because unless you show tremendous discipline, you eventually reach a point where you can't make your card payments.
