Is there an episode that confirms that Ward Cleaver's occupation was Accountant? If so, does anyone know which one?

No there is no 1 specific episode which mentions it, only clues in some such as:
Fred Rutherford comes by to discuss the "Miller Audits" with Ward that are being handled by the "Big Boys at the New York City office". (from the episode Ward's Baseball) [This message has been edited by TJ (edited 06-24-2001).] |

I think that Ward is a foreman at the salt mines.

we've conclued Ward was an engineer;(1) he was an engineer in the seabees;(2) he was almost a commercial artist; (3) he was the best kite builder in Shaker Heights;(4) there are two framed prints on his office wall, one of a building, the other of a bridge. I met Jerry Mathers at an mall in 1983, explained this, and even he didn't know.

In the "Boat Builders" episode, Ward is working at home and shows June a survey that was taken by "some of the fellows down at the office." The topic is Women's Marketing Habits. Maybe Ward was an account rep for an advertising or sales firm?

Also, in the episode where Beav and Larry ditch school for the day (because they were late for the third time that week) Ward is seen in his office dictating a memo. He is talking about working on the "basic concepts" of a business deal. Also, he tells his secretary that the "media department" may call. Accountants don't often deal with "concepts" and write reports for "media departments" do they? Sounds like sales or advertising to me!

Look folks,
We will never know for sure what Ward did for a living, and why would we? Its not important. We do know, that he wore a suit, and worked in an office with Fred Rutherford. Lets just leave it at that! |
