Cool Alex vs. Casey

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I actually liked Alex. She had some funny moments and I wish they had done more with the character instead of dumping her and replacing her with that awful Casey. I didn't care for Casey much at all. She seemed too one-dimensional, shallow, and cartoonish. I still wouldn't have minded seeing her and Antonio become a couple though. Maybe I would have liked Casey better if they gave her more depth.

I liked Casey better. I just thought she was funnier and I enjoyed her character more. I only have seen one episode with Alex though, and she seemed really serious. I might change my mind if I see more Alex episodes, but for now my favorite is Casey.

I liked Alex better. She came in the show, having Joe and Brian fighting over her. She chose Brian, they dated, then she left him. Although she thinks he would have left her first, if she didn't get out when she did. Then half a year later she returned and took Brian on a TV show, where they bashed him. All Casey did was come on the show, insult everyone, and have a sexual thing with Brian.

I actually like both characters, I know not too many fans of the show (or at least who post here) like those two. The only character I didn't like was Budd. And that's only because he never really became part of the group. He just did his job, told a joke showing he was dumb, and then went home.

I don't dislike Casey, but of the two I really preferred Alex. At her inception, she was the "unobtainable girl", no matter what the guys did to get her attention. Every guy can relate to that at least once in his life (if not more) of acting like an idiot & competing with a friend to impress a girl & arouse her interest.

I loved the "gym" episode where the boys were trying to outdo one another to impress Alex........"Hey Slick, you're on that machine backwards!"

And who could forget, "cuz we're the Hackett brothers!" in trying to look cool in front of her.

Seems TV shows replace characters with complete opposites to keep things different. The opposite of tough, independent Alex is prissy, needy Casey.

Yes. That episode at the gym was great! I haven't seen it in years but I still remember how much I laughed when I saw it.

I also liked both Alex and Casey. Although it did take me a few episodes to warm up to Casey. I think the first episode I really liked her was when she and Brian planned the surprise party for Joe and Helen and Casey didn't want "the big sandwich".

Roy's reaction when he didn't think there would be a big sandwich was classic,...."no big sandwich? It's, it's...just not done".

Oops, I went off topic there, anyway I liked them both.

I like both, but -to be honest- made me sad when Alex left the show. She was great. I'm pretty much like a female Joe, but also have a lot of things from Alex. Those two girls were amazing in Wings, but also were so different!
The two could be part of the gang. I don't know why they don't hold Alex's charachter a little longer. Alex and Casey could make a great couple.

I think I liked Alex better..Casey was such a wench about things...she seemed whiney and I don't like that. Besides, Alex added more to the show whereas Casey only brought in a more hateful character.

In my opinion, Casey was a much better fit on the show. Her whiney attitude only lasted one season before they changed her character. Which I am glad they did. As far as Alex goes, they maintained Alex's hard edge way too long for my taste. I also think that Casey (Amy Yasbeck) was gorgeous!!

Yeah, I have to agree that Amy Yasbeck is very pretty! I think by a long shot she is way more pretty than Alex but character wise it just wasn't fun for me.

I thought I was the only person who preferred Casey over Alex. I just really didn't see a whole lot of chemistry between Alex and Brian. But Casey seemed to "fit" more with the rest of the cast.

I agree. Because Casey is Helen's sister, there's a backstory with the 4 of them, and that gave them a slew more storylines to choose from. The whole Brian/Alex thing bored me after a few episodes. It was the same thing all the time.

That's why I said that Casey and Alex were (are?) so different.
It's very hard to compare both of them.
Alex has a humor a little more sarcastic, more resolute with her life... Casey is a very cool character too! She's sweet, sometimes is naive but has a good heart and love all the gang. Also, if their wants, can be mean, and (just to point out that) both were involved (more or less) with Brian! (I envy them!)
I think I preffer Alex because I'm more like her, you know?

I understand your points and you're right, it is hard to compare the two. When it comes down to it, it's all about different tastes. I just know that if I would have been Brian, I would have been all over Casey from the start!

I really enjoyed how as the seasons went on (with Casey), they had Brian and Casey having their own story lines. Example: Casey and Brian sick with a cold, Casey and Brian on a fake Valentines Date...etc. I really enjoyed their humor together.
