This story just blows my mind!

I'm sure for all of us there are those certain UM stories that just blow your mind and are so interesting and mysterious we never forget them. Well I finally saw one of the most interesting ones again the other day that I hadn't seen for a long time. This was one of the older stories. It was about Aileen Conway a married woman with I think 5 or 6 kids. She lived in Oklahoma and one day her husband came home to find her purse and id still there, the patio door open, a hose with water still running in her swimming pool, her ironing board set up and her iron on, a bathtub full of water and the phone off the hook! How bizarre! What is even more weird is that her burning car was found on a rural area of Oklahoma that her husband said they had never been to and would have no reason to be at. Her burned beyond recognition body was in the car and they think someone set the accelerator to drive into the bridge. They said she always drove with the windows up and the ac on but they found a church flyer from their church near the car unburned which meant it would have had to blow out the window. Of course no update, so I don't know if they ever found out who did it. This story just blows my mind! What in your opinion is the most mind blowing interesting UM case?

I remember this story that you speak of. It was very very odd- and I wonder what could have happened?

One of the strangest stories I have heard on U/M was that story about the people hearing that low rumbling sound. It sounds like something from another universe. They attempted to replicate the sound, and the sound they played on the Unsolved Mysteries episode chilled me to the Bone! It sounded like the soundtrack from a intense horror movie.


No one knows why only certain people can hear the sound. Where does it come from? Why do only some people hear it?


One theory was the answer lies with the Navy. Apparently, the military uses some kind of very low frequency radar or something like that. They use it to communicate with submarines.

I also remember the Aileen Conway story, although it has been years since I've seen it. Nothing about her murder seemed to make any sense. Why would she be targeted for such a brutal crime, and why was it made to look like an accident?

I can't pick one particular case as the most mind-blowing, but there are certainly ones that have stayed with me over the years.

The young girl who was abducted from a state park (I believe her name was Nylene). The creep who kidnapped her sent taunting letters to her family.

The deaf young woman who was found wandering down the middle of a busy street in California. Authorities say she appeared to be well cared for and did not fit the description of any missing persons in that area.

The elderly gentleman who got lost while going to pick up his wife. His car was later found in a wooded area but police were never able to determine what happened to him.

To my knowledge, none of these cases has been solved.

Hey, was that the case of the girl called "Luxi"? I think that is how her name was spelled...she was apparently a mute of somekind, unable to talk or hear, but she revealed that she had given birth at some point. Very odd.

Sometimes I wonder how many cases actually have been solved, but Lifetime doesn't bother to add the updates or word just doesn't get around.

Ok...mindblowing cases...

The story of that guy in the platinum (I think) plant that vanished during his shift, and at one point there was a dip in the temperature of some vat of molten stuff, which indicated something was probably thrown in...

Another case that blew my mind, but was solved, was the case of the French-American soccer mom who "kidnapped" her son from her ex-husband, who had custody of him. She held French citizenship papers, and police thought she might have taken her son to France. Her ex-husband spent a long time trailing them and contacted her friends and family, but nobody would help him. On the most recent broadcast of this story, Lifetime included an update. After 10 years, the father finally made contact with the ex-wife and found out that his son had contracted Leukemia and died. That update angered me.

Allierain, that case angered me as well. The woman's name was Betty Day, and her son was named Christoph. I don't know what comes over people in a case like this where they automatically make their ex out to be a villain and convince their child that this fact is true. To add salt to the wound, kidnapping your own child and doing everything in your power to keep them away from their other parent is just plain EVIL. I was really glad that there was finally an update to this case. While I was sad to hear about Christoph, I was really angry that the UM update didn't say whether or not Betty was punished by authorities for all that crap that she did. I'd hate to think she could bring Bill all of that pain and not get what she deserved.

ANYWAY! Back to the subject. The Unsolved Mysteries case that blew my mind the most was the Cindy James case. She was a nurse from Vancouver who was found dead in the yard of an abandoned house with her hands and feet bound behind her back, a nylon stocking tied tightly around her neck and with many morphine drugs that had been injected in her system. Her death scene was already odd enough. The police were so convinced that it was suicide but I can't for the life of me, picture a woman injecting herself with so many drugs, then strangling herself with a stocking before bounding her hands and feet together behind her back.

This woman was stalked constantly for a full 7 years before ending up dead. 5 times, she was violently attacked. Her basement was set on fire one night. She got threatening phone calls year after year. She constantly found threatening notes and dead animals in her yard. Her porch lights were smashed. At night, she heard prowlers. Her phone lines were cut constantly.

The Vancover police always believed that Cindy was behind ALL of these incidents. That she was torturing herself with all of this misery while trying to convince others that it was real. Problem with that theory is, many times, family members or friends were with her when she recieved threatening phone calls or heard suspicious noises outside in her yard.

The thing that blows my mind the most in this case is that after 7 years of all of this, a suspect was never caught. A clue was never left behind. Not even a fingerprint was ever found whenever her house was broken into. Even with a video camera installed in her garage and at the side of her house, NOTHING was ever found. Even if Cindy was responsible for torturing herself, the police never even caught her in the act.

There are too many weird facts about this case that make me believe she was murdered. And if she really was, I wouldn't wish her fate on my worst enemy. To be stalked like that for so many years and not even have the police believe that you're being stalked has to be the cruelest fate anyone could ever go through.

This case will always be an unsolved mystery.

Anything more about this one? Was the girl ever identified? I couldn't find anything about her on the net, I believe it was in Port Hueneme, CA.

I have never seen this one either. It sounds bizarre. I might check on that web site we're not allowed to mention and see if it's there.

Well, too many to just name one. But one very perplexing, which strangely enough hasn't been discussed here a lot, is the one about John and Linda Sohus, the young couple who was about to move to New York, because, according to Linda, John had gotten a Job as an agent or something for the government (which to me seems very weird since he was a computer programmer). They then disappeared and nothing was ever heard from them except a strange postcard from France (Kinda missed New York, oops! ).

Then there was this guy, Chicester (sp?) who had rented a house on (I think) John's or Linda's mother's property, she was an alcoholic which could explain her strange behavior during the police investigation.

Well anyway, Chichester turned out to be somebody else, a German with another name, can't remember. He also disappeared but it was later confirmed that he tried to sell John's pickup truck on the eastcoast.

Later the police eventually found John's bones in the backyard but they couldn't prove to 100% that it was actually John's (how is that even possible now with DNA and all that!?). Also, they found traces of blood in the house Chichester had rented.

Many unanswered questions here; Did Chichester kill John? Did Chichester and Linda have an affair? Did both Chichester and Linda kill John? Were the bones in the backyard even John's? Did Linda just fake the whole 'John got a job'-thing in order for her to flee to Europe (possibly Germany) whith Chichester? Did Chichester kill Linda too? Who sent that strange postcard? Who was the women who later picked up Lindas cats?

Well, that one sure as heck blew my mind...

Cindy James...because it seems like the more you try to figure this case, the more questions pop up. In fact, of all the cases I remember even when UM aired on NBC, over the years, this one always stayed in my mind...and scared me the most.

I can't remember any of the people's names in this case but it involved an interracial couple who had three children. When the youngest child, a girl, was born, she was a lot fairer skinned than the other two children and the mother began to favor this child more and shun the other two children and her husband. I think she in fact accused the husband of abusing the child(ren). Anyway, she ran off with the youngest child . I felt so bad for the husband and especially the children. What in the world could have madethis woman react like that after the youngest child's birth unless either she had always been that way deep down or was suffering post-partum depression or something. Very strange...

I just watched the Cindy James case for the first time the other night on the Bizarre Murders DVD and my feeling is that she did all of this to herself and ultimately committed suicide. Apparently, the knot that she used in the suicide wasn't very complicated (i.e. she could tie it in a matter of only a few minutes) and it would have taken her 15 minutes to feel the effects of the drugs that she injected.

There were some key questions or issues that kept coming up in my mind as I watched that segment: If you accept that she was indeed being stalked, then what was the stalker's intent? If it was to kill her as he or she ultimately did, then that person was a rather inept killer as they had numerous opportunities to do the job properly and failed. If the stalker's intent was to merely stalk, then why did he or she end up killing Cindy?

The only realistic conclusion that I can come up with is that Cindy, who appeared to have some significant mental health problems, killed herself and perpetrated the seven years of acts on herself prior to the suicide.

Hmm, yeah John and Linda Solis and Christopher Chichester. Chichester always reminded me of Matt Damon's character in the Talented Mr. Ripley. In my opinion, it is most likely that Chichester murdered John, so he could have Linda all to himself.

I just dont know why Chichester would murder both of them and since Linda's body never turned up, I think that it is likely she was having an affair with Chichester or that Chichester wanted to have an affair with her and either way murdered John because he was in the way of him having Linda all to himself.

What about that girl who was kidnapped from a phone booth in Missouri? Angela Hammond?? That was creepy as hell as you saw her feet kicking in the car as she was driven off by some guy.

And they NEVER solved the I-70 murders??
