Cool Sweetest/Saddest moments

What do you think were the sweetest Wings moments?

What did you think were the saddest Wings moments?

one of the sweetest moments at the end of the episode where Helen attends that relationship meeting and one of the saddest moments is when Lowell made his departure

I agree with those. Lowell's departure always makes me cry.

other sweet moments:

Joe telling off Danny "Dead-End" Connelly after he was so rude to Antonio, even if it meant possibly losing Sandpiper.
Antonio telling Casey what a scumbag that Gavin guy was, even though it meant losing his job.
Joe's proposal to Helen.

other sad moments:

Helen leaving Joe for NYC.
Joe reuniting with his mom.

That "relationship meeting" episode....Is that when Helen tells Joe that by him dumping her for Gale, Helen not only lost her boyfriend, but also her BEST friend?
That may have been sweet, but it was also so sad....especially the way that Crystal Bernard played it. She tried so hard to fight back tears and smile, but you just KNEW that her heart was breaking. I thought that Crystal did an excellent acting job in that scene....and you could almost SEE Joe shrinking down to size as Helen was telling him what she was feeling.
It's beautifully underplayed, but well-acted, moments like that that really make that series!

I agree. They did a great job acting in that scene. I could really sense their emotion. I thought they all did great jobs acting.

I think a sweet moment in Lowell's last episode was in the scene where he was leaving. The whole gang were standing, watching him by the door. Roy saluted Lowell. It wasn't anything noticeable, I just taped it and watched everyone's facial expressions. I thought it was nice of Roy to salute Lowell after all those years of insulting him. It kind of showed that he respects Lowell afterall.

Helen: I'm never gonna see you again.

Lowell: Goodbye, Helen. (Hug)

Fay: Oh, Lowell.

Lowell: I'm gonna miss you Fay. (Hug)

Antonio: This is not goodbye. I'm not saying goodbye to you.

Lowell: Hello Antonio.

Antonio: Hello Lowell. (Hug)

Casey: Lowell, in the short time I've been on the island.

Lowell: Come here, dumplin (He kisses her)

Lowell: Roy.

Roy: (Voice comically cracking) Just go.

Lowell: Goodbye, Brother. (To Brian)

Brian: Goodbye, Lowelly. (Hug)

Joe: Goodbye Lowell. I'm proud of you.

Lowell: Thanks Joe.

Sweetest moments:

Joe, Brian, and the others getting tricked (by Roy, of course) into digging a hole for his new hot tub but getting the last hurrah by storing the dirt in Roy's house

Joe and Helen rekindling their friendship just before Joe's office becomes rubble for the third episode in a row (thanks to Joe himself, this time)

Joe and Brian reuniting with their mother

High school reunion where lovely Helen gets her revenge on the now-overweight head cheerleader who used to belittle her about her then-overweightness.

Saddest moments:

Only one I can think of: Lowell's final departure from Nantucket to join the Witness Protection Program

Wow, I'm surprised nobody mentioned Joe's speech to Helen in the elevator when she was going to New York to marry Davis. "How can you even think of marrying Lynch?!"

I agree Phoebe7165. That scene in the elevator was special. Great writing, and great performances by Tim and Crystal.

One of the best scenes ever (I cannot remember the episode) is where Joe goes over to Helen's to give her the broach. Joe tell's Helen that it is just some cheap momento he got out of a bubble gum machine (I think), and Helen ends up seeing it on the home movies she's watching and sees Joe's mother wearing it.

That IMO is one of the best ever.

Runner-up to me is one of the one's in the early episodes where they go to Joe and Brian as kids spreading their arms as wings and pretending they are airplanes while running on the beach.

That's from the episode "It's Not The Thought, It's The Gift." Yeah that was a good episode and the real beginning of the Joe-Helen relationship.

That "broach in the home movie" scene is one of my favorite "human" moments from the "Wings" episodes that I've seen so far.
