ALF isn't airing anywhere, which is weird considering it was popular.

And I don't think Square Pegs will be shown anyplace after the TV Land Kitschen gets through with it.

I have seen "Webster", "The Hogan Family", and "ALF" up here recently, but the one 80s show that I miss and that no one has mentioned is "Punky Brewster". I can't find it anywhere!

I've seen ALF, Diff'rent Strokes and Facts Of Life on cable television. They were on Nick At Nite or TV Land or one of those types of stations. I can't remember but I know they still play them.

However, one I've never seen in syndication... The Charmings. Remember that little obscurity from the 80's about the Snow White/Charming family that wakes up and lives in modern day U.S.A?

One line I loved from that sitcom was when the neighbors came over and asked if they wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons and Prince Charming goes to the closet and pulls out his sword.

Did anyone else see "I Married Dora" when TVLAND aired it once a couple months ago at 4:30 am?

I have some tapes of Mr. Belvedere that I love to watch as does my 8 year old daughter. I would like to see that on TVLand or maybe ABC Family sometime soon. I'd love the chance to see the entire run again.

This is why I would love to see a TV Land 80's channel. There were so many great sitcoms from that decade that haven't aired on syndication since the early 90's. Some of those sitcoms haven't been aired since their original run as well!

The reason why I think these sitcoms have failed in the syndication scene is because they were so sappy, qwerky, and extremely family friendly. Sitcoms from the 70's, and 90's are more daring, provacative, and some even controversial because the times were VERY different. 80's sitcoms were conservative and sugar-coated from showing the actual 80's scene. But that's what makes them great.

Isn't weird how you can watch Small Wonder, Punky Brewster, Silver Spoons, etc. without actually remembering that AIDS was blowing up, divorce rates were increasing, drugs were widely available, and Madonna was shocking the world. The same goes for Saved By The Bell, and Full House--- do remember about the Gulf War or Michael Jackson's sex allegations while watching them?... I don't.

Those sitcoms were created to take people's mind off the harsh reality about this world.

Funny how you should mention that. One of the biggest tragedies that happened in the 1980s was the Challenger shuttle disaster from 1986. I still remember watching the news reports from that time and learning more about Christa McAuliffe and all the brave people that were on that mission and who sadly never returned. The next year, I saw an episode of "Punky Brewster" that dealt specifically with that tragedy. It starts off where Punky's class is all excited at the opportunity to watch a real group of astronauts in action live on TV. When the tragedy happens, everyone suddenly turns silent and episode takes on a sad tone from that moment on. I still haven't forgotten that. So now every time I think of the Challenger disaster, I think of "Punky Brewster".
